How to reboot your Meizu U20 if it's frozen

Reboot your Samsung Galaxy to speed up your phone

The easiest way to restart your Samsung phone is to use the Power button. The prerequisite for rebooting using the power button is that your smartphone is working. (Phone power button doesn't work)

The benefit is easy to understand, especially for the non-tech-savvy. When your Samsung phone responds slower, you can reboot your Samsung.

Make sure your Samsung phone is charged to at least 5%; otherwise, it may not turn on after reboot. If the battery is completely discharged, it must be charged at least 15 minutes before rebooting the Samsung.

Step 1: Hold the Power button, which is usually located on the right side of your Samsung phone, for a few seconds to access the boot menu screen.

On Samsung W2017/W2016, the Power button is labeled with a battery icon on the physical keyboard.

Step 2: Tap "Turn Off" and then tap "OK" when the message appears that your smartphone will turn off.

If you see the Reboot or Reboot option in the boot menu, click it and your device will automatically turn on after shutting down.

Step 3. Wait at least a couple of seconds. Press the Power button again to turn on your Samsung phone.

Why doesn't Meizu want to turn on?

If the phone turns off and does not turn on or constantly reboots, do not panic and immediately run to the service center, where you will most likely pay a decent amount for repairing the device. First, try to figure out the current situation yourself, because many problems can be solved without outside help.

There are several reasons why your Meizu cannot boot:

  • failure of the battery or power adapter;
  • Power key failure;
  • burnout or desoldering of the microcontroller responsible for power distribution;
  • incorrect flashing of the gadget;
  • using third-party firmware that is not adapted to your smartphone model.

To determine the type of damage (mechanical or software), try booting your phone. To do this, with the device completely turned off, you must simultaneously hold down the Power and Volume Up keys for a few seconds. If the resuscitation environment is launched on Meiza, the problem will be of a software nature. If Recovery does not load, it means that you have encountered a mechanical failure of the device.

Tips for further use

Turning the phone off and on again is not a solution to the situation when it freezes again. In order for the device to function normally, it is necessary to detect and eliminate the cause. Remember, you may have installed programs or games. Perhaps they are the ones that slow down the operation of the smartphone. You should remove applications and check the functionality of the device. If it doesn’t help, then the virus has already entered the system. In this case, you need to download the best antivirus program and scan the entire system. If you find suspicious malicious files, delete them immediately.

To make Meizu M5 S work quickly and not freeze, try updating the system or installing a new version.

Returning your smartphone to factory settings will also help prevent errors and slow operation. Before using this method, save all your information, as it will be completely deleted from the device. The smartphone will be in the same form as it was sold in the store. You will have to re-enter all account information and install applications.

What to do if the problem is in the firmware?

If the manipulations described above did not help, and the smartphone continues to freeze, most likely the reason is the firmware. If you have never reinstalled the operating system on your phone before and have no idea about the procedure, it would be preferable to take the gadget to a service center.

Independent intervention in the firmware can turn a smartphone into a “brick” without the possibility of recovery.

Quite often, service center technicians have to deal with such a problem as a constant or arbitrary/involuntary reboot of a smartphone. In order to clearly understand the reason for the reboot, the client needs to be given as complete information as possible about when and after what such a reboot first happened. As a rule, it is extremely rare for a phone to reboot for no reason.

A reboot itself is an attempt by the phone to launch the desired program file or a specific mechanical part (for example, a camera) by rebooting this part or by re-opening the specifically required system file. That is why the phone tries to start the necessary services by completely rebooting if the service does not respond the first time.

But there are also completely different reasons for the “reboot”. For example, if the phone is physically bent, some cable is bent, or water gets into the phone, then a reboot indicates a forced shutdown of the system due to a short circuit (short circuit), that is, when a short circuit occurs in the device, the controller responsible for the constant voltage is forced and abruptly turns off the power.

But immediately, when the voltage in the phone is lost, this controller again allows you to start the device exactly until the moment when the short circuit occurs again, and so on in a circle. The frequency of such a circle is determined by the fact that the short circuit occurs either constantly (cyclic reboot), or, for example, when you press the phone in a certain place.

In these cases, if you have the skills to diagnose such devices, you can find and eliminate the short circuit by cleaning or replacing non-working elements on the boards (if moisture has entered), or completely replacing the part in which, in fact, you discovered the problem. We strongly recommend that you only contact a service center, since by not knowing certain rules, you can harm your device even more.

Reboots also often occur after a system crash, after installing certain malware, or after flashing the phone. Any of the above software problems can be solved by correctly flashing the phone, using firmware files only from official sites, and we strongly do not recommend installing BETA firmware on your device

Meizu devices are characterized by stable operation of both software and mechanical parts. However, they also experience interruptions - the system freezes and does not respond to gestures or button presses. Today we will figure out why this happens and how to deal with this problem on models such as M3, M5, M5s, M6, M6 Note, etc.

How to do a hard reset

If the soft method does not bring the expected result, then a hard forced reboot of Meizu will be required. To ensure that the procedure goes without unexpected problems, it is worth preparing the device in advance.

Preparation

These recommendations are suitable for preparing all Meizu models:

  • you need to make copies of the necessary files, contacts or messages, etc.;
  • The battery charge must be at least 80%;
  • It is recommended to delete the Gmail ID application, otherwise the device will be blocked after reboot;
  • Remove the SIM card and microflash drive from the slots.

Your device is now ready for a hard reset.

1st method

The easiest way to hard-boot is to hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. After this, a reboot will occur.

2nd method

This method is more complex, but it works in the most severe freezes of the device, returning all its parameters to their original state. Procedure:

  • turn off the gadget;
  • simultaneously press the volume up and power buttons;
  • when the logo appears on the screen, release the power;
  • in the window that appears, select the data erase line and click OK;
  • The process of deleting all data to factory settings starts.

This drastic method should not be abused; it is better to try a soft restart first. If you can’t restore the phone’s functionality, then you can resort to a “hard reset”.

Reasons for rebooting your phone

A system restart, which is performed at the user's discretion, does not raise any questions. What makes a phone spontaneously reboot besides the desire of its owner? The reasons may be problems with electronic components, as well as errors that occur at the software level. That is, when you turn on the smartphone, some module malfunctions, or the operating system fails to launch the required file.

What exactly can trigger reboots? Specialists from service centers indicate that the most common causes are mechanical damage, for example, deformation of the phone case and, as a result, bending of some cable, or broken solder connections. If water gets into the smartphone and it reboots itself, then the reason for Meizu’s “reboot” is a short circuit.

Software glitches that cause the device to reboot most often appear after an error when flashing the phone or installing third-party applications that contain incorrect or malicious codes.

How to reboot Meise's phone if it's frozen

What to do: Meizu is stuck on turning on? The solution is to perform a forced reboot of the keys. Depending on the selected reboot method, you must hold down a certain key combination.

Soft reboot

A soft reboot will allow you to turn off the gadget after freezing and restart it again without losing personal data. To complete the process you must:

If you have any questions, please let us know Ask a Question

  1. Wait 1-2 minutes. Perhaps the device just takes a long time to load (this often happens after updating the firmware of a gadget);
  2. If the logo still hangs on the smartphone screen, hold down the power key (most often located on the side under the volume switch);
  3. Hold the button down for 20 seconds until the screen goes dark;
  4. Press the button again until the download starts again.

Using third party software

In addition to Android's own capabilities, there are many third-party utilities for restarting its system. These include:

  • ROM Toolbox;
  • Reboot Menu Widget;
  • Material Design;
  • Reboot.

The first two utilities can be downloaded without fear, but the latter require super user rights, reducing Android security, and are therefore not recommended for ordinary users.

How to install firmware on Meizu phone

Method No. 1

  1. Put your smartphone on charge. It should charge for at least 45 minutes. It is recommended to fully charge the battery, as the device cannot be entered into Recovery mode if the battery charge level is less than 20%.
  2. Turn off Meizu. To do this, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
  3. After turning off the device, you need to enter it into recovery mode. To do this, press the volume up button and the power button at the same time.
  4. Your phone will display a “Firmware not found” message and a warning symbol in the form of an exclamation point inside a triangle (or something similar).
  5. In this step, connect Meizu to your PC or laptop using the original USB cable that came with your phone.
  6. Copy the file with the new firmware (you need to download it in advance - see prerequisites) to the Recovery folder. This folder is located on your phone, which must be recognized by your PC's operating system as a separate removable drive.
  7. Change the name of the firmware file to “Update.zip”. Disconnect your smartphone from your computer!
  8. After completing step 7, pick up your phone. The recovery menu should be open on the screen.
  9. Tap “System Upgrade” and then “Clear Data”.
  10. After this, click on the “Retry” (or “Update”) button.
  11. The software update process will begin. Wait for it to finish.
  12. Meizu should reboot. The first time after installing the firmware, the reboot may take 15-20 minutes.

This is a universal method, it is suitable for m3, m5 and any other Meizu model. However, it happens that users fail to use this flashing method because the phone does not enter Recovery mode. In this case, something like this message may appear on the screen: “Red state. Your device has failed verification and may not work properly. Your device will boot in 5 seconds” (the device cannot be verified, it will reboot in 5 seconds). Then the “eternal reboot” begins, because Flyme still cannot load. Or the device enters recovery mode, the computer recognizes it as a removable disk, but when you try to start the firmware process by clicking on the “Update” button, the update does not occur. Instead, the system erases the firmware file copied to the phone.

What to do? In this case, you can use the second, more complex flashing method. It requires a special programmer called an MRT Dongle. So,

Method No. 2

As an example, we will give the process of flashing Meizu Pro 6 (not M6!). This will require

Next we perform the following steps:

  1. Disable the driver signature verification function on the PC.
  2. Download and install drivers using Driver Auto Installer.
  3. We connect the MRT Dongle programmer to the USB port on the PC (USB 2.0, it will not work with USB 3.0).
  4. Unpack the mrt_1.98_fix.7z archive and run the MRT_1.98.exe program.
  5. Click on the Meizu tab, which is located in the upper right corner and select “PRO 6” (since this model is used for the example).
  6. The message “Connect to Service Success” appears.
  7. In the “Operation Options” menu, select “Write Flash”, click “Open” and go to the folder with the downloaded firmware version (Meizu_Pro_6_MRT_Firmware). You need to find the scatter file MT6797_Android_scatter.txt in this folder.
  8. Now click the Start button. The message “Searching Mobile Port...” should appear.
  9. At this point, you should turn off your phone and then press and hold the Volume Down button. When the button is pressed, you need to connect the phone to the PC using a USB cable. When the firmware process begins, the button can be released.

If the flashing does not start, you can try booting into “fastboot” mode. To do this, press and hold two buttons – the power button and the volume down button. After about 8 seconds, the smartphone will boot into the required mode and the buttons can be released. Then (already in fastboot) press these buttons again. When your phone's screen turns off, release the Power button while still holding down the Volume Down button. The flashing process should start.

You can install the firmware on your phone without an MRT Dongle (or BST Dongle) programmer. Let's see how to do this using the Meizu M5 Note as an example.

Method No. 3

  1. Download and unpack the Restore_recovery.zip archive. File size 100.9 MB.
  2. We find the drivers in the “VCOM/PRELOADER” folder and install them.
  3. Run the file “flash_tool.exe” as administrator. It is located in the folder with the program for installing the firmware.
  4. Open the “Download” tab, select the “Download Agent” item and the file named “DA_PL.bin”.
  5. Load the scatter file from the “Images” folder. We don’t change anything in the “Download” tab!
  6. Click the “Download” button.
  7. We connect the smartphone to the PC (the smartphone must be turned off!) and wait until the “OK” icon turns green.
  8. Now you can start the flashing process, after which the problem with Meizu cyclic reboot will be solved.

What to do if Meizu’s phone freezes? Many Android users face this problem, regardless of whether they are the owners of a new or already outdated gadget (m5s, Note 9, M3, Note M6, Pro 7, etc.). Often a forced reboot helps solve the problem; sometimes you will have to update the gadget’s firmware. Below we will look at the main reasons why a mobile device freezes, as well as ways to reboot the gadget to fix the problem.

Mechanical faults Meizu

If Meizu MX5 or Meizu M3 Note does not turn on, try to remember whether it was previously subjected to strong shocks or high humidity. As a result of a fall, a microcontroller or other element may become unsoldered on the mobile phone board. Water that has penetrated under the case will lead to a short circuit, after which it will be difficult or impossible to restore the functionality of the gadget.

If there are no prerequisites for a breakdown, try connecting a known-good power supply to the smartphone. It is quite possible that the Meizu M2 mini does not want to turn on due to being completely discharged. Wait a while and try to turn it on again.

If, when you connect the adapter, the indicator light on your phone lights up, signaling the charging process, then the problem may be related to the screen or the Power key. If there is no indication, most likely the modules responsible for powering the device (battery, microcontroller, etc.) are not working.

If you think that the Meizu M5 does not turn on at all through the broken Power button, it will need to be replaced with a new one at the nearest workshop. You can check the functionality of this element as follows:

If after performing these steps the phone turns on, you can safely change the power key. If the operating system still does not load, the Power button has nothing to do with it.

Booting a smartphone via ADB Run is only possible if USB debugging is running on the mobile phone. Otherwise, Meizu will not respond to external commands in any way.

Preparing for a complete cleaning of Meizu

Modern smartphones are used not only for communication between subscribers. They are full-fledged media devices, the memory of which often stores information important to the user (SMS messages, contacts, notes, photos, etc.). Therefore, before starting, it is recommended to make a backup of the system with all data.

Like a hard reset, backup to Meiza is also built into the OS and is done through standard settings:

The backup process will begin, the duration of which will depend on the amount of data being processed. After its completion, the backup file will be written to the backup folder in the root directory. It will need to be transferred to an external drive (for example, USB flash) or computer.

Once you have created a backup, you can perform a factory reset.

How to do a soft reboot

A soft “reset” is considered the simplest and most gentle way to restore the functionality of the Android system. This reboot of the Meizu phone will help cope with freezing or severe slowdown in the operation of the OS. A soft restart of the Meizu android is relevant for all models like M3, M5 and M6, Note or Pro, Y10, etc.

You need to press the power button and hold it for a few seconds. A menu will soon appear on the screen in which you need to select the reboot option. Turning the device on/off with the power button is also considered a kind of soft restart.

If it freezes and won't turn off

If Meizu is frozen, does not respond to user actions and does not want to turn off, then the easiest solution to the problem is to press and hold the power for 15-30 seconds.

You don't have to install anything. It is enough to wait for the automatic restart, after which the smartphone will return to normal operation. After a soft restart, all applications will close and unsaved information will be lost.
