If fast charging does not work on Samsung gadgets: options

Why doesn't fast charging turn on on Samsung Galaxy?

If you cannot enable Quick Charge on your Galaxy smartphone, you need to remember the following:

  • Fast charging wirelessly or using a cable is only possible with special equipment. These are chargers, wires and other accessories.
  • Only some Galaxy models support Quick Charge.
  • Not every phone provides the ability to charge the device wirelessly.
  • All technical equipment is sold separately.

How to enable fast charging on a Samsung phone:

  1. Go to "Settings".
  2. Open the "Advanced Features" section.
  3. Go to the "Accessories" block.
  4. Select "Fast Wireless Charging".

In some phones, the toggle switch for activating Quick Charge is located directly in the “Settings” section. Scroll down the page and you will see the “Charging” block. Move the slider to the active position.

How can you check if Quick Charge is enabled if you suspect it is not working:

  1. In the “Device Maintenance” section, find the “Battery” item.
  2. On some smartphone models, this option can be found in “Optimization”.
  3. Tap on the “Settings” icon. To do this, click on the 3 dots that are located in the corner.
  4. Go to the "Fast Charge" block.
  5. See if the wireless or cable power option you need is enabled.

Keep in mind:

  • Quick Charge cannot be activated if the phone is already charging.
  • This technology will not work with conventional memory. Check if you are using the correct equipment.

If you bought a charger from your own hands or from the Chinese, then you might have received scorched equipment. Despite the markings, it may not be suitable for working with Quick Charge at all. Therefore, try to check all technical equipment before purchasing. If its price is too low, then you could encounter scammers. Then you don’t have to wonder why your Wi-Fi or fast charging function doesn’t work.

What to do if charging does not work on Samsung

Almost all the latest Samsung Galaxy phones support Quick Charge. There are a few exceptions - for example, the A10 model.

In addition, standard charging is rated at 10 watts. However, in this line there are several devices that work with other powers.

Models:Charger power:
S10, S10e and S10-Plus15 W
Note 10 and S2045 W
S10 5G25 watt

To easily charge Samsung mobile devices, you will need Adaptive Fast Charge. Its power is adjusted to the characteristics of smartphones. Adaptive charging allows you to provide power to devices with different power levels. However, you should still buy such a charger taking into account the power indicators.

If the device replenishes its charge, it usually shows Fast Charge on its screen. It should also indicate how much time is left to complete the recharge.

How fast charging works

To quickly charge the battery, more power will be required from the charger. Standard chargers have an output voltage of 5 V and a current of up to 2.5 A. In devices using fast charging technology, the voltage can reach 20 V and the current is 5 A. There are also special protocols by which the gadget notifies the charger about its status . And based on this, the parameters change.

When the battery is almost empty, the charger produces maximum power. Therefore, quickly charging the battery is most effective when it is low. It’s not for nothing that companies provide information about the time it takes to replenish a battery with energy up to 50%.

Features of Quick Charge on Huawei and Honor smartphones

If you use Chinese Huawei and Honor smartphones, then the issue may be due to the following problems:

  • The version of Android installed on your mobile device does not work with Quick Charge technology.
  • There is a virus in the software.
  • Incorrect or damaged wire is being used.
  • The phone's battery is too weak.

Let's take a closer look at how to solve each of these problems and why standard fast charging isn't working on your device.

What to do if your Android operating system does not support Quick Charge:

  1. Go to the Google Play platform.
  2. Enter “Fast charging for Android” into the entertainment search.
  3. Select software from the developer MOBILITY STUDIO from the list of applications on Google Play.
  4. Download this utility, install it and try it out. Perhaps it will help the phone use the Quick Charge function.

Some viruses negatively affect the normal operation of batteries.

What to do if your device is infected with malware:

  1. Install a good antivirus from a trusted source. For example, Doctor Web.
  2. Carry out a comprehensive cleaning.
  3. If no antivirus software helps you get rid of malware, contact the manufacturer. Ask him to provide a clean version of the firmware.
  4. Be sure to save your phone data in a safe place. Reflash the device.

The problem with a weak battery can only be solved by completely replacing this component. Over time, all energy storage devices deteriorate. Therefore, in any case, you will have to periodically change the battery.

You cannot buy a battery that differs in voltage from the drive originally installed in the device. However, you can buy a battery with a higher capacity.

Which smartphones support fast charging?

There is no single standard, so many smartphone manufacturers have developed their own rules. Let's figure out what standards exist and which phones support them.

Quick Charge

Quick Charge technology developed by Qualcomm is the most successful. There are four versions of this standard. New memory devices of the latest versions - 4.0/4.0+ develop output power up to 27 W. Thanks to this, they can charge the battery in 15 minutes from 0 to 50%.

It is impossible to list smartphone models that support this standard, since there are many of them. Therefore, to find out whether a phone supports this technology, you need to understand each specific model. When determining compatibility, it is useful to know that Quick Charge can only work with gadgets equipped with Qualcomm processors. Gadgets that support this format are backwards compatible.

Here is a list of smartphones that support the latest Quick Charge 4+ standard:

  • Black Shark 2;
  • BQ Aquaris X2? X2 Pro;
  • Nubia mini, Z17 and Z18;
  • Razer Phone;
  • Redmi K20, K20 Pro;
  • Samsung Galaxy A70 and A80;
  • Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi9, A2, MIX3, Poco F1;
  • ZTE AXON Pro 9 and 10.

Apple

Apple has also developed its own technology. Gadgets that support it can receive up to 29 W of power from the charger. Thanks to this, the iPhone is charged from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.

The following gadget models support the Apple standard:

  • iPhone 8 and later models;
  • the first generation of iPad Pro with a screen of 11 and 12.9 inches, as well as new versions of these gadgets;
  • third generation iPad Air;
  • fifth generation iPad mini.

Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging

The power that Adaptive Fast Charging can show is 18 watts. This is enough to charge the Galaxy Note 5 smartphone, equipped with a 3000 mAh battery, up to 50%. It will take two hours to completely fill the same battery. You can use a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 adapter, but in this case the replenishment of energy will be slower.

This technology is supported by all Samsung S series smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S6, as well as Note devices, starting with the Galaxy Note 4.

Motorola TurboPower (Lenovo)

The Motorola TurboPower standard is based on Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The difference between TurboPower is the increased power of 28.5 W. It is supported by smartphones Moto X Pure Edition, Droid Turbo 2 and later versions of gadgets produced under the Motorola brand.

Media Tek Pump Express

Pump Express technology was developed by Media Tek and is considered the closest rival to the previous one. The latest version of Media Tek Pump Express 4.0 differs from competitors in that the battery is replenished with energy directly and does not involve the controller. Operating modes and battery temperature are controlled by the memory.

For a smartphone to support Pump Express, it must be equipped with a USB Type-C port. Information about gadget compatibility with this standard must be checked for each specific model. Compatible models should be found among phones using the Media Tek chipset.

VOOC Flash Charging

The power that VOOC Flash Charging can provide is 25 W. This is enough to replenish a 3000 mAh battery up to 75% in 30 minutes. The following smartphones support this technology:

  • OPPO A1, A3, A7x, A73s, A83, A9, A91;
  • OPPO F7, F9, F11;
  • OPPO R15, R17;
  • OPPO Reno A, Z, 10xZoom, 5G;
  • OPPO Reno 2, Reno 2F, Reno 2Z;
  • OnePlus 3, 5, 6, 7;
  • Realme 3 Pro, 5 Pro, Q, X2, X50 5G;

Huawei SuperCharge

Huawei SuperCharge technology can provide power up to 25W.
This will be enough to charge a 4000 mAh battery in thirty minutes to 57%. The following phones are capable of working with this technology:

  • Huawei nova 2, 2s, 2 plus, 3, 4, 4e, 5i Pro, 5z, P9, P9 Plus, P10 Lite, P10 Plus, P20 lite, P20 lite (2019), P30 lite, Mate 8, Mate 9, 9 Pro, 9 Porsche Design, Mate 10, 10 Pro, 10 Porsche Design, Mate 20, 20 X, Mate RS Porsche Design, Mate 20 lite;
  • P10 Plus, P20 lite, P20 lite (2019), P30 lite, Mate 8, Mate 9, 9 Pr, 20S, Holly 2 Plus, Play, HONOR Note 10, HONOR View, HONOR View 10, HONOR View 20;

For what reason is fast charging not activated on Xiaomi?

Popular Chinese Xiaomi smartphones also sometimes do not meet the expectations of their owners.

Why Xiaomi refuses to charge quickly even though the device is connected to the network:

  • Your smartphone model is not designed for fast charging.
  • The software needs to be updated.
  • The wrong memory is being used. Make sure your charger supports Quick Charge.
  • Re-flashing required. Sometimes you can fix a faulty device yourself by resetting all settings. However, if the issue is a manufacturing defect, then this problem needs to be resolved at a service center.
  • The phone is overheating. To prevent this from happening, set it aside while charging. Active use of applications always leads to heat and waste of energy. It is also advisable not to put a case that is too thick on the device. Keeping a charging smartphone under a blanket or pillow is also not recommended.

Why is this happening? Heating of the device usually proceeds without complications. However, frequent overloads can still damage fragile electronics. If this has already happened, then you will have to change the phone components. If you have experience, you can perform such an operation yourself. In other cases, it is recommended to use the help of customer service staff.

How to enable fast charging option on Xiaomi if it does not work:

  1. Select “Optimization” in “Settings”.
  2. In the next window, click on the “Battery” button.
  3. Tap on the 3 dots that can be found in the upper corner on the right side.
  4. Click on "Advanced Settings".
  5. Activate the desired slider in the “Charging” section.

Some smartphones have two options here, while others have only one. Depending on the model, you can enable fast wireless charging, or via cable.

How to disable

You can enable and disable fast charging in one menu item using the switch slider, as shown in the previous example. However, not all smartphones have the ability to disable this function. How to disable the fast charging function in this case?

There are two exits:

  • The first is to update the phone's firmware with a new one; there is a possibility that such a function will appear when updating the software.
  • The second is to charge the gadget with a charger that does not support fast charging (type 5V 2A).

Galaxy Note10+ does not charge quickly #9: Factory reset

The final solution you can do in this situation is to perform a factory reset. If the cause of your Galaxy Note10+'s camera problems is software in nature, there's a good chance that a master or factory reset will help.

Below are two methods to factory reset your Note10+:

Method 1: How to do a hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ through the settings menu

This is the easiest way to erase your Galaxy Note10+. all you need to do is go to the settings menu and follow the instructions below. We recommend this method if you have no problems with your settings.

  1. Back up your personal data and delete your Google account.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Click Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information, then click Reset to continue.
  7. Click "Delete All" to confirm the action.

Method 2: How to do a hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ using hardware buttons

If in your case the phone does not boot or boots but the settings menu is not available, this method may be useful. First, you need to boot your device into recovery mode. Once you have successfully accessed Recovery, this is the time when you start the proper factory reset procedure. It may take a few tries before you can access Recovery, so be patient and try again.

  1. If possible, back up your personal data in advance. If your problem prevents you from doing this, simply skip this step.
  2. Additionally, you want to make sure that you delete your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing this, simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off your device. It is important. If you can't disable it, you'll never be able to boot into recovery mode. If you can't turn off your device regularly using the power button, wait until your phone's battery drains. Then charge your phone 30 minutes before booting into recovery mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby/Power key.
  5. When the green Android logo appears, release both keys (Installing system update will be displayed for 30-60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options are displayed).
  6. The Recovery OSD menu appears. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you highlight “Wipe Data/Factory Reset.”
  8. Press the Power button to select "Wipe data/factory reset".
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm the factory reset.
  11. Follow the rest of the instructions to finish the task.

The first reason is inattention

The first reason for the malfunction is, rather, the inattention of the device owners themselves. The manufacturer clearly states that if you do not use a special adapter, the fast battery charging function will not work. That is, if we take a “regular” charger and plug the plug into a socket, the smartphone will charge slowly.

Fortunately, this adapter is included in the kit. Therefore, you won’t have to spend money on it. But if you bought a smartphone secondhand and only now found out about Quick Charge, then it is quite possible that you cannot quickly charge your smartphone due to the fact that the seller did not give you the necessary adapter.

If your original adapter is broken, you should not buy another one for 200-300 rubles. A real adapter that guarantees fast charging costs a little more. For 300 rubles, the most you can buy is a regular charger called Quick Charge.

Galaxy Note10+ does not charge quickly #8: Charging in safe mode

Sometimes charging problems can be caused by a bad app. If your Galaxy Note10+ won't charge quickly after installing an app, uninstall the said app and see if the problem goes away. If you can't open the application, try restarting it in Safe Mode.

In this mode, all third-party applications, that is, applications added after setting up the phone, will be suspended. If your Galaxy Note10+ charges normally when it's in Safe Mode, you can assume one of the third-party apps is to blame. These are the steps to reboot into safe mode:

  1. Turn off your device.
  2. Press and hold the Power key behind the screen with the model name appearing on the screen.
  3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power button.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key.
  5. Continue holding the Volume Down key until the device finishes rebooting.
  6. When Safe Mode appears in the lower left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down key.
  7. Let the phone work, open the camera app and check the problem.

If there are no charging issues at all and your Galaxy Note10+ only works fine in Safe Mode, you can continue narrowing down suspicious apps by following these steps:

  1. Boot into safe mode.
  2. Check for problem.
  3. Once you confirm that a third-party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest you start with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After uninstalling the app, restart your phone normally and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy Note10+ won't charge quickly fix #5: Check the port

Sometimes Samsung Galaxy devices may not charge quickly if there is something in the port that is blocking the charging cable, or if the port itself is dirty. If you have confirmed that there are no problems with your charging accessories, the next step is to ensure that the charging port is not blocked. Sometimes dirt or lint can get inside the port and prevent the cable from connecting properly. To check the port, you can use a magnifying tool. If the inside shows obvious signs of dirt or lint, use a can of compressed air to clean it out.

Additionally, if you've recently exposed your Galaxy Note10+ to water, there may be moisture inside it. This may prevent the device from charging. Typically, your device should display a "Moisture Detected" warning in this situation. If you don't get it, it doesn't mean the charging port is 100% free of moisture. If you suspect the charging port may be wet, try drying your phone.

The easiest way to dry at home is to use brown rice or silica gel packets (which come with your shoebox). If you are using rice, make sure to cover the unit completely with it. Then close the container and leave the phone there for at least 48 hours.

A more effective way to dry your device is to use silica gel packets instead of rice. It absorbs moisture faster than rice, so you can cut drying time by about half. So, instead of leaving the device in an airtight container for 2 days, 24 hours will do. You can get silica gel packets from your local store.
