Huawei Honor V10 review
Huawei Honor V10 is the most advanced smartphone in this line. It has flagship-level characteristics, and also has a stylish design and a dual camera. The gadget was officially announced in December 2021.
Appearance and ergonomics
The exquisite appearance of the Huawei Honor B10 is immediately emphasized by the metal body with a matte finish. In the upper left corner there is a dual camera. It protrudes significantly on the back cover. There is a flash very close, and just below is the brand logo. Although the back side is matte, fingerprints still remain on it. As for the front panel, it is entirely covered with tempered 2.5D glass, which is curved at the edges. At the same time, there are practically no side frames, and the top and bottom margins have been significantly reduced. Thanks to this, the engineers were able to fit a huge 6-inch screen into a not very massive case.
Below the display there is a navigation button, which also serves as a fingerprint scanner. The corners of the case are carefully rounded to maximize ergonomics. Using a smartphone with one hand is quite possible, and high-quality materials contribute to additional comfort. The built-in battery has a capacity of 3750 mAh. Available colors: red, gold, blue and black. Dimensions: height - 157 mm, thickness - 7 mm, width - 75 mm, weight - 172 g.
Display
The Honor V10 has a progressive display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This widescreen screen has a huge 6-inch diagonal. The large matrix also received an increased resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels. The color palette is extremely rich, but if necessary, the shades can be muted a little using manual settings. The brightness is quite enough to use the device in different situations. Durable glass reliably protects the screen, and the oleophobic coating effectively fights fingerprints.
Hardware and performance
The Honor B10 houses a very powerful Kirin 970 processor, which is closely connected with neural networks. Its peak frequency reaches 2400 MHz. Built-in artificial intelligence allows you to intelligently distribute the work of available resources, which has a beneficial effect on optimization. Also, neural technologies are actively used by the processor during camera filming, ideally recognizing specific scenes and situations. The gadget supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 256 GB. The younger version of the smartphone has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. But the older model can boast 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage.
The device initially runs on the Android 8.0 operating system, and the proprietary shell is EMUI 8.0. The graphics are processed by a new generation 3D accelerator Mali-G72MP12. The AnTuTu test results indicate the excellent performance of this smartphone, as it managed to score about 180,000 points. Naturally, this allows the phone to run even the most modern mobile games at the highest possible graphics settings without any problems. The interface and applications are very fast.
Communication and sound
What makes Huawei Honor V10 stand out is the loud sound of the multimedia speaker. The high and mid frequencies are especially well developed. The sound in headphones is quite good, but after manually adjusting the equalizer you can achieve almost perfect results. There is a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you can freely use your favorite wired headset. It is comfortable to talk with your interlocutor; you and he can be heard clearly. The device has an NFC chip and also operates in LTE networks.
Camera
Huawei Honor V10 has a truly advanced dual camera that is capable of shooting at the level of the most expensive and top-end smartphones. It consists of a 16-megapixel color and 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The aperture ratio of 1.8 allows you to easily photograph objects even at dusk. The automation works very well, setting not only the ideal shutter speed, but also sensitivity. The camera focuses really quickly. There is also a 13-megapixel front camera that takes excellent self-portraits. But the lack of optical stabilization is felt when shooting video.
conclusions
If you carefully study the Honor View 10, you can come to the logical and obvious conclusion that for $450 the buyer receives a smartphone with full-fledged flagship hardware without any compromises. It has everything you need, and an additional advantage is the presence of a “neural” processor and a high-quality dual camera.
Pros:
- Powerful processor with support for neural technology.
- Large, bright and widescreen display.
- Excellent dual camera.
- Stylish frameless design.
- Solid battery life.
Minuses:
- Sometimes moisture protection is not enough.
- There is no zest in appearance.
- Fingerprints remain on the back.
Appearance
The Honor 10 case differs slightly from the previous model:
- protective coating Corning Gorilla Glass 3 instead of Corning Gorilla Glass;
- diagonal 5.84 inches compared to Honor 9 (5.15),
- IPS OGS screen manufacturing technology as opposed to LTPS in the Honor 10 smartphone.
The blue body can also be chosen in the collection of the ninth model, so the color is not a significant difference, but the design of the front of the smartphone may cause more interest: the screen is frameless.
With almost the same size, the usable area of Honor 10 is larger compared to Honor 9 due to the removal of the lower and upper frame.
It won’t take long to get used to a frameless phone - it’s convenient, but in some applications the top part can be mercilessly “eaten up” due to the incomplete adaptation of the screen.
The thickness of both devices is almost the same (7.7 and 7.45 mm), as is the design of the bottom and top of the smartphones.
The difference between Honor 10 and 9 is in the location of the camera: in the new phone it protrudes above the surface, in the 2021 gadget it is flush with the back panel.
The return button has also undergone changes: it has become tactilely imperceptible on the display surface.
The case material is also glass and metal, making the phone look very fragile and slippery.

Packaging and delivery
The smartphone comes in a white box made of thick and polished cardboard. The entire surface of the lid is decorated with a dotted pattern, and the edges on all sides are full of iridescent blue honor 10 inscriptions.
Inside the box is a smartphone completely covered with a matte film, on the back of which it is schematically indicated where the NFC is located, the volume buttons, the SIM tray and what size the subscriber identification module is supported. Under the protective film on the smartphone, various types of stickers are pasted on all sides and, as it turns out, there are a lot of them. The front part is covered with a sticker with the main characteristics according to the manufacturer, the back surface is topped with a sticker with imei and two small EAC (Eurasian Conformity) stickers, as well as the Ukrainian standardization mark (“trefoil”).
Contents of delivery:
— charger with cable;
— a paperclip for removing the SIM card;

Sound
Honor 10 is equipped with one multimedia speaker, with good volume and quite good sound - at least it does not rattle at maximum volume, does not distort the mid frequencies very much, and there is a little more mid-low frequency than the average modern smartphone. The sound quality in the headphones is quite good for a user listening to music from a smartphone, and not from a high-end audio player (dense and fairly clear bass, but high frequencies may disappoint fans of emphatically bright “highs”, who will find the sound somewhat muffled), although I would have liked some extra volume a little more.
To improve the sound in the headphones, a set of Huawei Listen audio effects is used, which can make the sound more rich and spacious; there is also a 10-band equalizer with presets for different music genres and even optimization for various types of headphones (including certain models of Huawei itself).
Screen
In terms of the image, from the point of view of the average user, little has changed; I see the difference between the screens of Honor 10 and 9 only in terms of characteristics:
- number of screen colors 16.7 and 16 million, respectively;
- pixel density 432 ppi and 428;
- Screen resolution is 2280x1080 for Honor 10 and 1920x1080 for Honor 9.
The manufacturer added a plastic case to the ninth Honor, and a silicone one to the tenth, and this is undoubtedly an advantage of the new device.
The plastic bumper was covered with scratches within a few days, but the silicone one remained in a more presentable form. However, the case will have to be changed - over time, the material turns yellow and spoils the appearance of the gadget.
Another plus is the film that was initially glued to the Honor 10 screen: you don’t have to pay for the option or suffer yourself trying to glue the protection evenly to the phone.
