The founder of the line is Huawei Honor 8. The smartphone was released at the end of 2016. We did not add this smartphone to the comparison table, since it is difficult to find in 2021 - only buy leftovers. The smartphone itself is revolutionary: it has shortened the distance between flagships and sub-flagships, introduced gradient fills into fashion, as well as a glass body. Huawei Honor 8 went well with the public and became one of the main smartphones of the sub-brand. That is why, even in 2018, smartphones are being released under the auspices of Huawei Honor 8 (Honor 8C, Honor 8X, Honor 8X Max, Honor 8 Pro, Honor 8 Lite) - they use the good name of the popular smartphone. Have you gone deeper into history? Now let's get acquainted with the Honor 8 smartphones that are relevant in 2018. A short description of the smartphones will be given in chronological order.
Honor 8 Lite is the most affordable smartphone in this line. Honor 8 Lite is a smartphone that seemed out of place at the start of sales: the performance is worse than that of the basic Honor 8, there is one main camera, not two, like the “parent” model, and the price is serious - 16,000 rubles. A year has passed and the smartphone has seriously lost in price (30%). Now it is fighting in the budget segment and can give a thrashing to any fashionable budget smartphone. Its main disadvantage is its slightly trivial appearance, but otherwise the Honor 8 Lite is good.
Honor 8 Pro is an improved version of the basic Honor 8. The upgrade was so serious that many even called the smartphone Honor 9, but it is still Honor 8 Pro. There are many differences from the classic eighth Honor: the body has become metal (Honor 8 had glass), the screen and its resolution have grown, a new processor has appeared, and the battery has increased. At this stage, the Honor 8 lineup has not yet switched to a frameless format, so Huawei Honor 8 Pro is still a classic smartphone
Honor 8X is the first “rejuvenated” Honor of the eighth series. This smartphone has everything that we are used to seeing in new phones: a huge screen with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a glass body with a gradient fill, a processor that supports artificial intelligence and good battery life. Honor 8 X can be called the dream of an undemanding buyer. Everything that smartphones have that are better than Honor 8X is overkill.
Honor 8X Max is a smartphone-tablet presented along with Honor 8 X. It seems that the prefix "Max" means only one thing - a larger screen. But it was not there. The Honor 8X Max differs in many ways from the model without the Max prefix: the screen has grown to monstrous sizes (don’t expect to use the Honor 8X Max with one hand), the Honor 8 X Max is one of two smartphones in the family running on a Snapdragon processor, and the battery capacity has grown in proportion to the screen, but the cameras, on the contrary, received a downgrade. Overall, the Honor 8X Max is a very interesting model that's worth a look if you're looking for a smartphone with a larger screen.
Honor 8C is the latest smartphone from Huawei, presented in October 2021. Honor 8c is an exemplary budget smartphone: they saved on everything that is not needed, but left everything that is necessary. The only representative of the line that has a plastic body, but the appearance of the Honor 8C does not suffer in any way - the design of the new product is at a decent level (Apple, thank you). The performance of the device is ensured by the new mid-range chip from Snapdragon, and the Honor 8ts cameras can take good pictures. The starting price of Honor 8C is not intimidating, so the smartphone immediately began to sell well.
Which Honor 8 is better to buy in 2018-2019? The answer is simple - buy Honor 8 X. It is the most balanced (not too big and not small), it has a modern design, a good price/performance ratio, and it came out relatively recently. All other smartphones have certain distortions. Honor 8 Lite will become obsolete in half a year/year, Honor 8 Pro has modern hardware, but its design gives it away as a smartphone that was released at the end of 2021, Honor 8X Max is more of a tablet than a smartphone, and it is far from suitable to everyone, Honor 8C loses to X in terms of design and body materials. Therefore, the best choice from the Honor 8 family is Huawei Honor 8X. Now let's take a closer look at all the participants in the review.

Huawei Honor 8 Lite smartphone – specifications, reviews, display, review, battery, protective glass
Huawei Honor 8 Lite is the most budget option from Honor’s line of sub-flagship smartphones. Unlike other smartphones in this price category, the phone is “enclosed” in a glass case. This was done in order to continue the good tradition of the series. It turned out so-so... The fact is that the glass of Huawei Honor 8 Lite is more like plastic. To save money, the smartphone manufacturer did not apply an oleobic coating to the glass of the “lightweight” gadget, which seriously affected the impression of interacting with the smartphone. Huawei Honor 8 Lite feels like a plastic smartphone in your hands due to the thin glass profile. Otherwise, the design of the Honor 8 Lite is fine: a classic all-in-one, neat, stylish.
The display of Huawei Honor 8 Lite does not raise any questions: IPS 5.2″, 1920×1080, 423 ppi, aspect ratio 16:9. The side frames of the display are minimal, the screen itself supports 10 simultaneous touches, and there is an eye protection mode (brightness reduction). The color rendition of the Honor 8 Lite display is natural, high saturation, the color balance is slightly blue. There is no need to buy a protective glass for the screen - scratch protection is provided. The speed of the smartphone is driven by a mid-range processor from Huawei – Kirin 655. The chip is built using a 16-nanometer process technology and consists of two clusters (with a frequency of up to 2.1 GHz and a frequency of 1.7 GHz). The graphics in the Huawei Honor 8 Lite are controlled by the dual-core GPU Mali-T830 MP2 video chip. The amount of RAM is 3 or 4 GB, and the built-in flash memory is 16/32/64 GB. In the synthetic Antutu test, Honor 8 Lite scores 60,000 points - not a record, but enough to solve most problems. Cameras are up to par: main camera – 12 MP, f/2.2, autofocus, 1080p video, front camera – 8 MP, f/2.0, autofocus. Inside the Honor 8 Lite there is a standard capacity 3000 mAh battery. A battery of such power is incapable of feats: with classical use it is more than enough for one day. In numbers, Honor 8 Lite is enough for 13 hours of reading, 10 hours of watching videos and 5 hours of video games. We will leave our review of Honor 8 Light in the format of its advantages and disadvantages.
Honor 8 Lite advantages:
- Adequate price
- Good screen
Honor 8 Lite disadvantages:
- Fragile body
- No NFC
- Micro USB 2.0
Huawei Honor 8C review: hardware, performance
The first among smartphones to get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 (14 nm) processor was the Honor 8Cе. The main core of this mobile platform is two quartets of 64-bit cores Kryo 250 Gold (high-performance) and Kryo 250 Silver (energy-efficient), operating at clock speeds up to 1.8 GHz. Graphics processing is provided by the Adreno 506 accelerator (OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan).
In addition to the Hexagon 546 coprocessor, the new platform is equipped with an X9 LTE modem (Cat.7/Cat.13) and supports Full HD displays, as well as dual cameras with 13-megapixel sensors (or one 21-megapixel). In addition, the asset includes Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1, NFC, Quick Charge 3.0, etc.

The new smartphone only has 32 GB of internal memory. To expand this storage, it is recommended to use a microSD/HC/XC memory card with a maximum capacity of up to 256 GB. Moreover, even in this case, you will not have to sacrifice the installation of a second SIM card (nanoSIM format), since the tray has three installation spaces, one of which is specially reserved for microSD. In addition, you can also temporarily expand the available storage, thanks to support for USB-OTG technology, by connecting a USB flash drive.
Two nanoSIM cards (4FF format) operate with one radio channel in DSDS (Dual SIM Dual Standby) mode. Among the FDD-LTE frequency ranges there is a “Russian troika” - b3 (1,800 MHz), b7 (2,600 MHz) and b20 (800 MHz). The wireless communications suite also includes a Wi-Fi module 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2. It’s not only the unavailability of the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band that is frustrating, but also the lack of an NFC interface, without which you can forget about contactless payments.
GPS, GLONASS and BDS satellite systems are used to determine the exact location and navigation. The A-GPS mode provides assistance in coordination over cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
Huawei Honor 8 Pro smartphone – characteristics, review, display, reviews
Huawei Honor 8 Pro is a sub-flagship smartphone presented at the end of 2021. At the time of release it was an absolute top. Now it belongs to the middle class smartphones. The design of Huawei Honor 8 Pro gives away the release date of the smartphone: classic aspect ratio, metal body, large “lip” and “forehead”. However, the appearance of Honor 8 Pro cannot be called trivial - it is recognizable, comfortable, and streamlined. The connectors and interfaces are complete stuffing: there is a USB Type-C 2.0 connector, an NFC chip, an infrared port, and a headphone jack. In this regard, the smartphone keeps up with the times.
The screen of the Honor 8 Pro is of comfortable size, serious resolution, high-quality performance: 5.7 inches, IPS panel, 2560x1080, 515 ppi, 2.5D glass, 16:9 format, occupies about 74% of the area, the screen supports 10 simultaneous touches. The screen of Huawei Honor 8 Pro has a high maximum brightness, supports automatic brightness adjustment, has high contrast, excellent black field uniformity and natural color reproduction. The disadvantage of the Huawei Honor 8 Pro display is that the color tones are too “twisted”, but they can be adjusted in the settings. The “brains” of the Honor 8 Pro is the Kirin 960 processor, which belongs to the flagship line of Huawei chips. The eight-core processor is divided into two clusters (four Cortex-A73 and Cortex A-53 cores each), built using a 16-nm process technology. The smartphone has 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of internal memory. Expandable up to 2 TB. In Antutu, Kirin 960 and Honor 8 Pro scores 130,000 points - a top result that will cover the needs of any user. In terms of performance, Huawei Honor 8 Pro will be relevant for many years to come. The photographic capabilities of the smartphone are quite good: main camera – 12 MP + 12 MP, autofocus, f/2.2, 4K video, front camera – 8 MP, f/2.0. The second sensor of the main camera is monochrome, which distinguishes it, for example, from hundreds of smartphones with a dual camera, where the second sensor is a regular wide-angle lens. . Inside the Honor 8 Pro there is a standard 4000 mAh battery. A battery of such power is not capable of feats: with classical use it is more than enough for one day. In numbers, Honor 8 Lite is enough for 16 hours of reading, 10 hours of watching videos and 5 hours of video games. We will leave our review of Honor 8 Pro in the format of its advantages and disadvantages.
Honor 8 Pro advantages:
- Decent performance
- Good camera
- Powerful battery
- All necessary interfaces are available
Honor 8 Pro disadvantages:
- Boring design
- The smartphone came out a relatively long time ago
Huawei Honor 8C review: screen
The new smartphone is equipped with a 6.26-inch FullView screen (aspect ratio 19:9), on which the HD resolution (1520x720 pixels) provides a not too high pixel density per inch (269 ppi). However, the “grain” in the image is not yet visible to the naked eye. The matrix used with a “bang” has wide viewing angles and good color rendition.
You can adjust the screen brightness manually or use the “Auto” option. On a winter day, the maximum illumination level was quite enough. In the “Display” settings, it’s easy to select the desired color temperature on a graphic circle with two presets (“Warm” and “Cool”). The developers focus on the updated vision protection mode, certified by TÜV Rheinland.
Huawei Honor 8X smartphone – reviews, specifications, camera, glass, antutu
Honor 8X is the latest smartphone from Huawei, which is already selling like hotcakes. The new product has an ultimate set of qualities and falls short in only a few parameters. The design of Honor 8X is recognizable and stands out from other devices. You can check this argument yourself: just go to the nearest electronics store, approach the stand with smartphones and try to answer the question - which smartphone catches your eye. Trust that Honor 8X will be on this list. The smartphone stands out with a bright glass body, which is held together by a metal frame. The glass body has a gradient fill, so it shimmers interestingly under direct rays of light - see for yourself.
The Honor 8X display is simply stunning: 6.5 inches, IPS panel, 2244x1080, 382 ppi, 2.5D glass, 18:9 format, occupies about 90% of the area and handles ten simultaneous clicks. The screen is good in every sense: a large reserve of brightness, decent contrast, natural color rendition, “honest” black and white colors, wide viewing angles. The only thing you can find fault with here is that it is large, but anyone for whom this smartphone form factor is not suitable will not even look in the direction of the Huawei Honor X 8. The screen of the smartphone is large, so the additional protective glass of the Honor 8X will not hurt - during the “deadly »falls can help out. The cameras on the Honor 8 X are quite decent: main cameras – 20 MP, f/1.8 aperture, pixel size + 2 MP, f/2.4 aperture, video recording 1080p – 60/30 fps, 720P – 30 fps, front camera – 20 MP, f/2.0 aperture, 1080p video recording – 30fps. The performance of the Honor 8X is at an average level: not a budget phone, but not a flagship either. Inside the smartphone there is a Hisilicon Kirin 710 with a Mali-G51 MP4 graphics core, which, together with 4/6 GB of RAM, achieves 115,000 points in the Antutu synthetic test. Honor 8 X will run all modern games at medium graphics settings. As for autonomy, the Huawei phablet is equipped with a 3750 mAh battery, which is quite enough for an undemanding and energy-efficient smartphone hardware. There is an active mAh saving mode, fast and wireless charging. In mixed use mode, the phone can easily last two days without additional charging. We will leave our review of Honor 8 X in the format of its advantages and disadvantages.
Honor 8 X advantages:
- Adequate price
- Good cameras
- Modern design
- Excellent autonomy
Honor 8 X disadvantages:
- Micro USB 2.0 connector
- No stabilization during video shooting
Huawei Honor 8C review: design, ergonomics
It's no secret that budget smartphones are often “dressed” in glass and metal. So, for example, Honor 6C, and even Honor 7C, had an aluminum body. But the back panel of the Honor 8C is made of plastic. Three colors were provided for her - black, golden and blue (which is what we got for the test).
Thanks to a new type of coating with a nanopattern that reflects light rays and shimmers, the artistic effect in the latest color is called “cat's eye”. Alas, such plastic gets stained no worse than glass. If at first the device even looks elegant and doesn’t look like a budget employee, then, after some time, it looks rather unkempt (however, this is also the case with “glass” top models). During operation, the plastic surface will inevitably become covered with scratches, so this is unlikely to add any attractiveness to the Honor 8C.
Among the design features of the new product, which generally inherited the “family” design of Honor, it is worth noting that in a case less than 8 mm thick (7.98 mm) they managed to place a high-capacity battery (4,000 mAh). At the same time, the device weighs 167 g. In addition, thanks to the 19:9 aspect ratio and thinner frames than its predecessor, the display already occupies about 80% of the front surface of the smartphone.
Moreover, it is all covered with glass with a 2.5D effect (the manufacturer is not specified), on which a protective film is also applied.
On the dark “bangs” around the “talk” speaker, a front camera lens with LED backlight, as well as proximity and light sensors, were assembled. But the LED status indicator is hidden behind the decorative grille of the speaker.
On the “chin” under the display there was enough space for the chrome Honor logo. On-screen touch control buttons “Back”, “Home” and “Recent applications” are represented by “triangle”, “circle” and “square” icons. In the settings you can replace them with a virtual navigation key, and also add a navigation button.
The right edge traditionally features equally thin, but significantly different in size, volume rocker and power/lock button.
On the left edge there is a closed slot with a tray for three places, two of which are intended for nanoSIM subscriber identification modules, and one specifically for a microSD memory card.
At the top end there is a 3.5 mm connector for an audio headset and a hole for an additional microphone.
But at the bottom end, along with the microUSB connector, there was a decorative grille for the “multimedia” speaker, a hole for the “talk” microphone and a 3.5 mm audio headset connector.
The lenses of the rear photo module, together with the LED flash, are placed vertically at the top of the rear panel, closer to the left edge. At the same time, next to the photo module there is an inscription – “AI Camera”.
From another inscription, now at the bottom of the back panel, decorated with another Honor logo, you can find out the model number, company name and country of production.
Despite the relatively compact size of the Honor 8C with a “tall” 6.26-inch screen, the settings include a set of proprietary controls that allow you to more comfortably operate the smartphone with one hand.
Huawei Honor 8X Max smartphone – reviews, specifications, camera, antutu, review
An enlarged version of Honor 8X, which, according to the latest data, will not be sold in Russia, so we will not dwell in detail on the review of this smartphone. We decided to simply dwell on the main differences between Honor 8X Max and Honor 8X, and also indicate the features of the new product. The main feature and difference of the Max version is its simply huge screen. The design of the older brother has not changed much (except for the “droplet” instead of the “unibrow” on the front panel), but the screen has grown.
Its characteristics are as follows: 7.12 inches (~83.4% of the front surface of the device), IPS matrix, FullHD+ resolution. The screen is really huge and of high quality, but its size significantly affects the process of interacting with it - not everyone can handle it. The second feature of the smartphone follows from the first - a powerful 5000 mAh battery. The Chinese manufacturer installed a battery of similar power inside the smartphone to power the large screen - everything is logical here. From Honor 8X Max you can safely expect two days of work without additional recharging. The third feature of the Honor 8 X Max is the Snapdragon 636 processor installed on board. The eight-core Snapdragon 636, which operates at a frequency of 1800 MHz, is capable of getting good numbers in Antutu, gaining more than 100,000 points - performance at the level of the base Honor X. This is where the features end – the banal differences begin. It is worth noting that they decided not to equip this model with an NFC module and an infrared port. This, of course, is a small and not terrible loss, but it still exists. The second major difference between Honor 8 X and Honor 8 X Max is the main cameras. The version with the Max prefix received a downgrade: instead of a 20 MP main sensor (like the 8X), the 8X Max received a 16 MP sensor. The characteristics of the additional module have not changed - 2 MP (f/2.4, depth sensor).
And this is where the differences and features of this model end, so we invite you to read our review of the Honor 8X Max. We will leave our review of the Honor 8 X Max in the format of its advantages and disadvantages.
Honor 8 X Max advantages:
- Powerful battery
- Stylish appearance
- Great processor
- Large and colorful display
Honor 8 X Max disadvantages:
- No NFC
- Too big - difficult to use with one hand
- The main camera doesn't shoot well at night
Huawei Honor 8C review: sound
The not-so-outstanding “musical” capabilities of Honor 8C are enhanced by Huawei’s proprietary Histen algorithms. To facilitate automatic setup, it is worth noting the type of audio accessory being connected, and if you refuse to enable the simulation of deep 3D surround sound, you can choose natural or normal mode. In the latter case, it is proposed to use a 10-band equalizer with bass boost, five presets and individual settings.
The new product has an FM tuner, which will require a wired audio headset as a shortwave antenna. The Voice Recorder mobile application records conversations and monologues in M4A (AAC, 48 kHz) files, allowing you to leave quick and photo tags on these recordings. The standard Music application plays high-quality audio files, for example, with the FLAC extension. It is, of course, better to listen to them not through a budget “multimedia” speaker, but through headphones.
At the same time, for wireless Bluetooth “ears” in the A2DP profile, you can count on aptX and aptX HD codecs.
Smartphone Huawei Honor 8C 2021 – characteristics, review, antutu, reviews
Huawei Honor 8C is the latest budget smartphone that the Chinese company introduced at the end of October. The new product has expanded the line of eighth Honors, making them even more accessible to buyers. The price tag for Huawei Honor 8C was reduced by putting the new product in a plastic case. Of course, this is not a problem, but the impression of interacting with a smartphone changes: plastic is not as pleasant as metal and not as beautiful as glass. The material itself is of high quality, but collects fingerprints. The design of Huawei Honor 8C meets all modern requirements: the front side of the device looks more impressive due to its frameless design, and the back side boasts a dual camera and a fingerprint scanner.
The screen of the new product is of high quality, but with a touch of budget: 6.26 inches, IPS panel, 720x1520, 269 ppi, 2.5D glass, 18:9 format, occupies about 82% of the area. If you put the Honor 8C with the other participants in this review, you will see the difference: the hero of this “paragraph” clearly lacks resolution and brightness. This is due to the fact that the manufacturer saved not only on screen resolution, but also on its quality, replacing middle-class IPS with the simplest liquid crystal display. However, the screen of Huawei Honor 8C is saved by the fact that the matrix is quite well tuned and all the shortcomings are cleverly smoothed out. The Honor 8C smartphone will go on sale with a fresh eight-core Snapdragon 632 chip on board from the American chip manufacturer Qualcomm. The chip is built using a 14nm process technology, its Kryo 250 cores can operate at frequencies up to 1800 MHz. The Adreno 506 video accelerator will be responsible for working with graphics. The Huawei Honor 8C base is equipped with 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, as well as 32 or 64 GB of internal storage. Naturally, the smartphone supports microSD memory cards up to 256 GB. The cameras on the device are very mediocre and correspond to its price segment: dual main camera - 13 MP (f/1.8, PDAF) + 2 MP (f/2.4, depth sensor), LED flash, HDR, panorama, video recording [ email protected] , single front camera - 8 MP, f/2.0, [email protected] Under the cover of the Huawei Honor 8C there is a massive rechargeable battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh, which provides decent power. We will leave our review of the Honor 8 C in the format of its advantages and disadvantages.

What is good about Honor 8 (2018) – the main advantages of the line – Honor 8X, 8 Lite, 8 Pro, 8X Max, 8C
The question is general, but it is often asked. The line of eighth Honors is a good balance of performance, adequate pricing, big name and design. Smartphones from this family cover a wide price segment: from 10,000 rubles to 25,000 rubles, falling into the very epicenter of active buyers who need not just a dialer, but a modern smartphone at an inexpensive price. So, Honor 8C, Honor 8X, Honor 8X Max, Honor 8 Pro and Honor 8 Lite are those very modern smartphones at an inexpensive price.
Huawei Honor 8C review: autonomy
The capacity of the non-removable lithium-polymer battery in Honor 8C increased by a third compared to its predecessor and amounted to 4,000 mAh. Coupled with an energy-efficient processor, this promises good battery life. The manufacturer claims that the accumulated energy reserve in the battery is enough for two days, if you don’t get carried away with games (in general, you can count on a day and a half for sure).
Playing a test set of MP4 (hardware decoded) and HD videos at full brightness every hour reduced the battery charge by about 10% (test for 7 hours). There is no support for fast charging, and a 10-watt adapter (2 A/5 V) is included with the smartphone. To “fill” a full tank with it, you will have to spend about three hours.
The settings in the “Battery” section allow, in particular, to determine the appropriate energy saving mode and launch applications in the background, as well as take advantage of tips for optimizing energy consumption. So, when the battery level is low, it is recommended to switch to the “Ultra” mode, where only selected programs are available.
Huawei Honor 8C review: software features
The Honor 8C smartphone runs on the Android 8.1.0 (Oreo) operating system, the interface of which is replaced by the proprietary EMUI 8.2.0 shell. In this launcher, you can switch between the usual style of the home screen (all program shortcuts are collected on the desktop) and a style with a separate application menu (screen).
In the home screen settings, it’s easy to change the grid of application icons, decide on the transition effect between screens, select the desired widget, etc.
To control your smartphone, it is recommended to use a virtual navigation key or a regular system panel (three icons). In addition, you can activate an additional navigation button.
A simple mode with a minimum of applications and large icons will be useful for motorists and elderly people with impaired vision.
After activating several movements in the settings, it is suggested, for example, to mute the sound, lower the ringer volume, answer the call, etc. The launcher makes it possible to simply share the screen between two applications, and, for example, the mini-window mode increases the convenience of operating the smartphone with one hand.
The touch pad of the fingerprint scanner helps you answer voice calls, turn off the alarm, open the notification panel, scroll through images, and activate photo or video shooting from the Camera application. Fingerprint registration is not required. But after saving up to five papillary patterns, it is proposed to use them to unlock the smartphone, as well as to create an additional barrier when accessing personal folders and applications.
To quickly and easily unlock your smartphone, you can register your face. At the same time, the lack of lighting is compensated by the screen backlight. In general, a good solution for a budget device without an IR module. Of course, not too fast, but it works. It is worth recalling that biometric protection is less reliable than, for example, a traditional password, PIN code or pattern.
