Honor 20 Pro received a top-end processor of Huawei's own production - Kirin 980, which is based on the latest 7 nm process technology. They didn’t save on memory either; there is even more of it than competitors of similar prices: 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM. With such a volume, it is unlikely that anyone will be affected by the problem of the lack of a slot for MicroSD cards.
Although the smartphone is kept in AnTuTu at the level of last year’s flagships with Snapdragon 845, its performance is absolutely enough for absolutely any task. It is worth giving credit to Huawei for the high-quality optimization of the system; the interface here works simply with lightning speed - there are no crashes, no crashes, no brakes.
The Honor 20 Pro handles all games with ease, PUBG runs at maximum graphics settings, and any popular titles too. After 30 minutes of play, the case warms up to 43 degrees, throttling does not affect the frame rate, the picture remains smooth even during long-term gaming.
The operating system is Android 9 Pie with Magic UI 2.1 shell. Essentially, this is a complete copy of EMUI 9.1 from smartphones under the Huawei brand. The firmware is known for its controversial design, but good functionality and customization options. In the coming months, an update to EMUI 10 is expected, the visual part of which the Chinese have significantly redesigned for the better.

There are no complaints not only about detail, but also about color rendition - the shades are rich and natural, the brightness reserve is enough for comfortable use of the smartphone in any conditions.
The software allows you to activate the eye protection mode (blue light filter) or program it to turn on according to a given schedule, as well as adjust the white balance.
Performance
The performance of Honor 7A Pro is ensured by an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with a Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, permanent memory is 16 GB, and MicroSDXC memory cards up to 256 GB are supported.
The Honor 7A Pro's results in synthetic tests are standard for devices with similar hardware. In AnTuTu he scores 58.5 thousand points, but in games the situation is controversial. World of Tanks at low settings has a comfortable 35 fps and above, while the heavier Injustice 2 sags below 25 fps even on minimum graphics and playing in such a set of frames is simply not pleasant. So it’s difficult to call the 7A Pro a gaming smartphone.

Design
Due to the plastic body, Honor 7A Pro is very light. Matte plastic panels around the perimeter are framed by a frame made of the same material, but glossy. The smartphone is available in four colors: black, gold, blue and pink.
The fingerprint scanner is located on the back panel exactly in the center. The fingerprint scanner works quickly and produces virtually no errors. In addition to unlocking, the fingerprint sensor also has other functions: it can be used to access protected storage in a standard file manager, as well as to perform various actions such as opening the notification panel or scrolling through photos.
It is possible to unlock the device by face. It takes about 2 seconds for the smartphone to recognize the owner. The unlocking function works even in poor lighting, but sometimes fails in complete darkness.
In terms of size and ease of use, Honor 7A Pro is no different from other smartphones with the same screen diagonal. Using the gadget with one hand is quite possible.
Display
The 5.7-inch IPS matrix of the Honor 7A Pro has a resolution of 1440x720, an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a pixel density of 283 ppi. It’s difficult to see individual pixels on the screen even if you really want to. The cameras on the budget Honor 7A Pro, of course, have no bells and whistles. The main 13 megapixel module has autofocus and LED flash. His daytime shots are of high quality - detail and clarity are excellent.
The maximum shooting angle for panoramas is 180°, and the final resolution of such photos is 23 megapixels. In terms of clarity and quality, the panoramas are not inferior to ordinary daytime photographs, but their stitching is poor.
The front module has a resolution of 8 megapixels, it is also equipped with a flash and fixed autofocus. The flash can operate in constant light mode (“soft flash”), which allows you to use it when taking selfies without fear of getting an overexposed face or strong glare.
Honor 7A Pro records video at maximum Full HD at 30 fps. The videos come out clear, but they jitter a little when shooting handheld.
Performance

The budget Honor 7A Pro shows quite expected average performance results. The smartphone runs World of Tanks: Blitz without any problems at both low and high graphics settings with an average fps of at least 35. But you won’t be able to play Injustice 2: at an average speed of 25 fps it’s simply uncomfortable to play.
I was pleasantly surprised by the very loud speaker of the Honor 7A Pro.
Honor 7A Pro supports simultaneous operation of two SIM cards in alternate (DSDS) mode, with LTE available on both slots. A nice feature is the ability to install two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time: there is no need to compromise between the convenience of communication and the amount of memory the gadget has.
The set of other wireless interfaces is standard: Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz frequency range and Bluetooth 4.2.
Autonomy
The battery of Honor 7A Pro is non-removable and has a capacity of 3000 mAh. This is quite enough for a day of use with mixed loads, or two days when saving charge. Games at 50% display brightness drain the battery in 5 hours, Full HD video playback at the same screen brightness in airplane mode - in 10 hours.
Conclusion
The sturdy budget phone Honor 7A Pro has virtually no flaws. It costs only 9,000 rubles, but it offers the user a lot: a frameless display, an excellent speaker, the ability to install two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time, and sufficient performance. The list of its shortcomings includes, perhaps, only the average quality of images in artificial lighting.
Camera
The main camera has a resolution of 13 MP, there is an LED flash. During the day, Honor 7A Pro takes good photographs, producing detailed photos with correct color rendition in ideal lighting conditions. Also pleasing are the pictures taken in artificial light, in a room where the correct color is maintained and adequate noise reduction is observed. In the evening, the smartphone is expected to lack stars from the sky, shooting at the level of other budget devices.
The resolution of the front camera is 8 MP, its autofocus is fixed, but there is a flash.
Honor 7A Pro records video with FullHD resolution and a frame rate of 30 fps. Image stabilization is lacking, but the picture itself is quite clear.
Speaker, sound quality
The speaker of the smartphone pleasantly surprised us. Despite the fact that there is no stereo sound here, it turned out to be very loud - if you turn the slider to the maximum level in the room, the sound literally begins to “hit your ears.” The quality is also good, it is not flat, without a metallic tint, there is even a hint of low frequencies.
Honor 7A Pro has a standard 3.5 mm audio jack, so listening to music on headphones will not be accompanied by additional inconvenience.
Sound
Honor 20 Pro has only one speaker at the bottom of the case. The speaker copes with its tasks well, although without any special frills. It is loud - you can hear it even in difficult conditions, be it in a crowd or a shower, there is no wheezing or distortion even at maximum volume. But in terms of volumetric sound and low-frequency processing, it is far from the stereo speakers of more expensive flagships.
In headphones, the smartphone sounds standard, and the volume is good. However, there is no headphone jack; you will have to connect them through the adapter that comes with the phone. All necessary wireless codecs are supported: aptX HD, LDAC, AAC and others.
Communication and Internet
Honor 7A Pro supports dual SIM cards, LTE communication is available from both slots. The smartphone holds the operator's signal well; there were no problems with communication during testing of the device.
All wireless interfaces - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS navigation also work without any complaints. An indisputable plus is full support for two SIM cards and a memory card, the slot is separate, so you don’t have to make any compromises.
Connection quality
Huawei smartphones are famous for their excellent call quality, and the Honor 20 Pro is no exception. The device maintains excellent communication even in problem areas and has a high-quality microphone. At first you will have to get used to the conversational speaker; for the sake of framelessness, it has shrunk to a small slot, and therefore sometimes you will have to adjust and find in what position you can hear your interlocutor better.
The smartphone works in LTE networks and has fast Wi-Fi, of course dual-band. Navigation is also in perfect order - with active GPS, the phone does not heat up, the geolocation is accurate, and connection to satellites in the cold is carried out in 10-15 seconds. There is also an NFC module that supports contactless payment and travel card emulation. In general, there are no complaints about the communication capabilities of the Honor 20 Pro.
