When selecting a file, it is important to select the correct file. The file must relate to this particular phone model, for example, Honor 4C Pro firmware cannot be installed on Honor 4C.

In addition, the file must correspond not only to the name of the model, but also to its code. You can do this on a computer as well. But it’s easier on the phone if a MicroSD card is installed, because there is a built-in Huawei Backup application, and the backup can be saved to a memory card. It is recommended that you update your backup application first if you have not already done so.

Copying the firmware file and starting the update

I unpack the dload folder from the firmware file and copy it to the root directory of the MicroSD card. I did it through a computer, see Connecting Honor 4C to a PC. You can remove the MicroSD card from the phone and copy the files on the computer itself. You can also do this on your phone: download the update file from the link, use a file manager to unpack the dload from ZIP into the root folder of the MicroSD card.

Before starting the update, I check that the battery is charged, then I launch the local update from the phone’s settings menu. The phone finds the folder with the update files, updates and reboots.

After rebooting with the settings reset, the first thing I do is log into my Google account, then update the Huawei Backup application and restore settings and applications.
