How to flash Huawei Y6 Prime (2018). Updating to Android 11, 10, Pie 9, Oreo 8.1

Is it worth updating the firmware on Android?

The main point of updates is to eradicate bugs, problems and shortcomings, of which there are plenty in the Android operating system:

  • For example, system applications freeze or crash.
  • Blurred corners of pictures with a good camera.
  • The smartphone does not turn on at all.
  • The phone turns off and reboots whenever it wants.
  • Heavy power consumption when wi-fi is turned on, for example, the battery runs out in an hour.
  • There can be a lot of glitches; there are times when the phone itself starts calling the first number in the phone book. Hardly anyone is happy with this behavior.

There are also ordinary enthusiasts who love everything new and want to test the latest Android.

Download firmware

Our opinion does not claim to be the truth of the first instance, but we would like to recommend installing Android no lower than seven, because everything lower is already obsolete.

  1. Android 9.0 or just a pie is a new step in the development of mobile operating systems, the height of the genius of overseas programmers! URL: yourtopfile.info/android9pie
  2. 8.1 Oreo is the former peak of genius of the same overseas programmers. URL: yourtopfile.info/android8oreo
  3. Seven Nougat is a good operating system for mid-range or budget hardware. URL: yourtopfile.info/android7nougat
  4. Six Marshmallows - you can install it only if you are nostalgic for the sixth Android, otherwise it is not necessary, the same can be said about the fifth version. URL: yourtopfile.info/android6
  5. Android 10 Q 2021. URL: yourtopfile.info/android10
  6. Android 11 2021. URL: yourtopfile.info/android11

Important to know before updating!

Before flashing Huawei, you should know:

  1. The installation file is always named UPDATE.APP.
  2. It should be stored on an external drive if its availability is provided for by the features of the device.
  3. The firmware file should be located in a folder called dload in the root of the memory card.
  4. You can only use FAT32 memory with a capacity of 4 Gb or more.
  5. With the local update option, all data on the memory will be lost.
  6. If the archive containing the firmware contains several folders, then they must be activated one by one.

How to get root rights

In the field of obtaining root rights, there are two universal programs (universal because they support a lot of devices) that get root in 1 click, this is ZYKURoot 2.2 - (site zykuroot.info), maybe there is a newer version, you need to look at this on the site

And Rootkhp Pro 2.6 – (from the Rootkhp pro website). The version may also not be the latest; you need to check their website.

In general, instructions for them are not needed, everything is as usual, connect the phone to the computer and click Root. Then we sit and wait for what the program says.

Firmware versions

Before downloading, you need to figure out which firmware version is on your device. To do this, check out its numbering. As an example, let's take Huawei's MT1 – U06 V100R001C00B907.

MT1 – U06 refers to the name of the device. MT is the main base, that is, Huawei mate, and under U06 is a revision of the gadget. Devices may have different revisions. Let's just say that U means UMTS, C is the CDMA version. C××B×××SP×× is a Huawei-specific designation that displays the version of the “base” on which the firmware file was created.

By B××× we mean the numeric class of the base for firmware implementation. SP×× – Service Pack number. The greater the SP×× and B××, the more current the version (B×× has the highest priority). The region of the state is encrypted under C××.

Next, let's look at the software version itself - V100R001C00B907. In this case, R001 and V100 indicate the major version and revision revision. They change extremely rarely, as a rule, with a significant change relative to the previous version of the software (for example, the transition from Android 2.x to 4.x).

C00B907 means that the version is designed for most of the latest devices. The C00 value remains unchanged and means binding to a particular region. You can determine the region in the menu section called “Special version”. B907 – firmware version.

And what else?

Huawei Y6 comes with Android 8.0 Oreo, supports downloading files on LTE mobile networks at speeds of up to 150 Mbps and, in addition to a slot for MicroSD memory cards, offers two more slots for working in Dual-SIM mode. The MicroSD card slot will come in handy for many, since the phone's built-in memory is only 16 GB, and it comes out of the factory more than half full. In addition, the device is equipped with a WLAN module (working according to 802.11 b, g and n standards), as well as GPS and Bluetooth 4.2. This smartphone model does not have an NFC sensor.

Huawei Y6 does not have a fingerprint scanner, but the manufacturer has equipped the device with a facial recognition system. If you are not a fan of this method or want to be sure, you can use standard unlocking methods - entering a PIN code or pattern.

The Y6 battery is charged via the MicroUSB connector, which can be found in the bottom frame of the case. In addition, at the top of the frame there is a 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting headphones.

Types of firmware

There are different types of firmware, differing in certain parameters and capabilities. In particular, there are official branded firmware from the developer, as well as unofficial (custom) ones - created by the users themselves. Branded firmware, as a rule, contains useful updates to the Android system for Huawei that improve performance, correct developer errors, and also eliminate security problems.

Custom firmware usually allows the user to customize the system at their discretion. They can be useful in cases where official updates for the OS have no longer been released, but there is a risk that after installing unofficial firmware the phone will stop working. Therefore, it is preferable for experienced users who are well versed in this issue to install custom firmware.
