Why doesn't S Voice see contacts? S Voice what is this program on Android

How to turn off S Voice or delete

We suggest the following way to solve the problem and disable S Voice on Samsung: first open S Voice using a double tap, and after this download you should find “settings” (they are located in the “Menu” indicated in the upper right corner).
Here you can see that the item “Open via the home key” is marked with a check mark. This checkbox must be removed, and then the S Voice application that the user does not need will be disabled. In any device equipped with the S Voice option, you can disable its operation in this way. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has some amazing features like S Voice.
By turning on the S Voice app, you can perform actions that you would normally do with your hand, just by saying a command out loud. Tasks such as sending a message, dialing a number and playing music can now be completed completely hands-free. With voice command enabled, you'll be able to ask your device questions like "How's the weather?" and S Voice will give you serious feedback about the weather conditions by displaying them on the screen.

What S Voice can do

  • Call the number
  • Search for a contact
  • Write and send a text message
  • Open another application
  • Please provide directions
  • Tell me about the weather
  • Calculate tips
  • Add an event to your calendar
  • Set an alarm
  • Update your Facebook/Twitter
  • Do an Internet search
  • Play music
  • Enable/Disable Wi-Fi
  • Turn on/off hands-free mode
  • Write a note
  • Record your voice
  • Solve math problems
  • Flirt with you

S Voice, who says her name is Galaxy, can be quite cute at times. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get her to date me!

Hands-free mode

Also known as driving mode, hands-free mode reads incoming text messages aloud and allows you to answer calls using a voice command. It's great for driving, but be sure to turn it off when you're done, especially if you're going to work or to the movies.

Activate hands-free mode by saying “Turn on hands-free mode” or “Turn on driving mode.” Turn off hands-free mode by saying "Hands-free mode off" or "Turn off driving mode."

Using Bixby Voice

How to call Bixby?

There are two ways to call Bixby. You can say "Hi Bixby" or you can press and hold the side button of the phone. A small blue circle will appear in the left corner of the screen to receive your request. Just know that the side button acts like a walkie-talkie, so you'll need to keep it pressed until you finish your command.

When you call Bixby, it will appear as a small blue icon on your home screen.

Can I use Bixby on the lock screen?

Sorting. You can bring up Bixby on your lock screen by tapping the button or saying "Hi Bixby" as usual. However, you need to unlock your phone before it can fulfill your request.

Can I enter commands into Bixby?

Yes! When you call up Bixby, you'll see a Full Screen button on the right. Tap it and Bixby will expand to fill the entire screen. Then select the Search Commands box in the center and you can type Bixby instead of talking to it.

Samsung offers a handy list of questions for each of the Bixby Voice apps.

How do I know what I can ask?

Many of these are trial and error, but you can see a list of suggested questions for each app in Bixby Home. Tap the overflow menu, select Apps with voice, and select the app you want. Inside each of them you will find a list of valid requests.

Can Bixby be fixed?

Samsung wants Bixby as quickly as possible, so after each request is completed (or not), a question will pop up on the screen asking, "How's my answer?" Click Great and you will receive 5 XP points. Tap Let's Improve and Bixby will take you to a screen where you can select words that were misunderstood or describe what went wrong.

When you use Bixby, you will advance through your levels and unlock feaures.

Wait, XP points? What is this?

Samsung played with Bixby Voice to encourage people to use it. As you level up, you will unlock features (at the moment they are just background colors). You can track your level on the My Bixby page.

Setting up Bixby Voice

How do I know if I have it?

Like all Samsung updates, Bixby Voice will be released in a staggered manner that will vary depending on your carrier. Once it's available, your phone should alert you to it, but there are a few ways to verify that it's been pressed on your phone.

You should see the Bixby Voice icon on your Bixby Home screen. If you don't, go to the About page to see if there's an update pending.

First, swipe left to go to the Bixby home screen. If Bixby Voice is alive, you'll see a new "b" symbol next to the Bixby Vision eyes and Bixby Reminders bell icons. If you don't see it, click the overflow menu in the top right corner and select Settings. Then tap the About Bixby option and it will tell you if there are any updates available.

You will need to update other Galaxy apps. To do this, open the Galaxy Apps store, tap the overflow menu icon in the top right corner, then My Apps and Update. If any apps need to be updated, they will appear on the next screen. If Bixby Voice is one of them, once it finishes updating, you'll be ready to go.

In later versions of Bixby, the "b" icon was replaced with a gear icon that allows you to toggle the side button on and off. If you see this, you are using the latest version and Bixby Voice is active

How do I get started?

To start using Bixby, go to the Bixby home screen and it should go through a setup process, which is quite simple. In the following screens, you will practice saying "Hi Bixby" and try a few commands. Additionally, the Bixby Home Settings menu has several general options, including background color, feedback sounds, conversation style, and notifications.

Bixby Voice only works with Samsung apps at launch, but there's more to it than that.

What apps does Bixby work with?

At launch, Bixby will only work with a few Samsung apps:

  • Bixby Vision
  • Calculator
  • Camera
  • Watch
  • Contacts
  • Gallery
  • Internet
  • Messages
  • Telephone
  • Reminder
  • Settings
  • Weather

What about third party apps?

At launch, Bixby is designed to only work with the apps above, but Samsung wants to quickly bring Bixby Voice to more apps, including some popular third-party apps. The Bixby Labs tab in Home Settings shows you which apps are in development and you can select them to test. Bixby Labs already includes some intriguing apps, including Instagram, YouTube, Play Music, Maps, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Twitter.

S Voice what is this program on Android?

Hello everyone, guys. Today we’ll talk about the S Voice program, which is intended only for Samsung phones. Well, what does this program do, you’ll probably think... well, I’ll answer, everything is simple here, S Voice acts as a voice assistant. Well, the first thing that came to my mind was Okay Google, although these are probably slightly different things

So what can S Voice do? The possibilities are interesting, but I’ll get ahead of myself and say that there are probably some downsides to this application! Well, I mean that there is no life without bugs, so to speak, I don’t know why, but in every application that IN THEORY COULD BE VERY USEFUL, it has bugs such that in the end you just don’t want to use the application! Sorry guys, I wrote a little off topic, these are just my thoughts!

SO, what can S Voice do? But what, it can make calls and send SMS, if the program can really do all this and without jambs, then honor and praise to it! Also S Voice can check the weather, which is commendable too! S Voice can determine where you are now, but you probably need a GPS module in your phone. It can plot a route, well, yes, but Google Maps or Yandex Maps also do an excellent job of this. There is a built-in alarm clock, but there seems to be nothing special here. You can add notes and reminders to your calendar. You can also turn Wi-Fi on or off... Well, and much more, some necessary, and some unnecessary, well, it seems to me...

The Russian language is present in S Voice, which is good

In principle, things like this. You can play around with S Voice, can this application be useful in practice? I don't know…

But after reading about S Voice on the Internet, I came to the conclusion that not everyone likes this program, well, some users are wondering how to disable it? Well, if this is interesting to you, then I will answer this question now. I hope my version will help you if anything. In short, launch S Voice, then go to settings, and there will be an item Open with the Home key, uncheck this item:

So what did we do with this? Now the Home button will fulfill its intended purpose and the S Voice program will not be launched by this button. There is another option to disable it: select Applications and find S Voice App there and disable it. Well, or turn it off through the dispatcher

By the way, Windows 10 also has an assistant, but I think it will be cooler, you may even know it, this is the Cortana assistant. Looks like a female assistant...

Here's how S Voice finds out the weather:

Hmm, I didn’t know about this, but there is one very interesting feature of the S Voice application: in short, you can give commands to your smartphone even when it’s... OFF, wow! However, not all models support such an innovative feature! That is, your voice can turn on the phone! Have I got something wrong? Yes, it seems not! Look, go to the S Voice settings, there is an item called Voice activation, move the slider to the right and then click Yes:

But also make sure that the Wakeup command checkbox is checked. Then to send a command, you need to call S Voice, to do this, say the wakeup phrase, by default it is like this: Hello, Galaxy. After this phrase, the S Voice application will open and everything will be ready to receive your command

Here I found a picture, it says Welcome, well, it’s like a greeting:

After the greeting, a training will be offered, you can skip it, or you can learn how to use S Voice by watching a short lesson:

Then there will be such information, it says here that you need to press the microphone and say the phrase (look for the cow smiling):

If you click on the three dots in the upper right corner, you will see a menu like this, as you can see there are examples of commands, there is a training course, and there are also settings here:

I already showed a picture above regarding information about the weather, I don’t know if the S Voice version is different, but here the design is different, and here, for example, is how the weather in St. Petersburg is shown:

So I also found a picture, there is already Russian speech, and in fact you can talk with S Voice, you can even say that it’s a little interesting:

Well, that's all guys, I hope that now you already understand exactly what S Voice is and what this application is needed for. If something is wrong, then sorry, good luck to you!

Bixby 2.0

Samsung has announced the release of Bixby 2.0, which will be a "bold reimagining" of the platform, according to Samsung. Here's what we know about it so far:

Smart devices

The main feature of Bixby 2.0 will be integration with smart devices and appliances, including “TVs, refrigerators, home speakers, or any other related technology you can imagine. “Bixby will be primarily limited to Samsung devices at first, but Samsung plans to expand it to a wide range of others.

Developer SDK

The launch of Bixby 2.0 will bring a software development kit that third-party device makers can integrate into their products, such as Alexa and Google Assistant.

Voice enhancements

Samsung says Bixby 2.0 will have "enhanced natural language capabilities for more natural commands and complex processing." In addition, this will allow for multiple user recognition. Bixby 2.0 will be able to differentiate between users and adjust its responses according to the person speaking, a similar feature to one introduced for Google Home earlier this year.

Bixby marketplace

Samsung also plans to allow users to use Bixby 2.0 to make purchases, saying it plans to "roll out different revenue models" so developers can monetize the Bixby experience. It's unclear how this works, but it will presumably be tied to Samsung Pay.

Instructions on how to disable S Voice

The Voice Commands app on the Samsung Galaxy often gets in the way. The fact is that it starts if you double-click the “Home” button. That is, sometimes it happens by accident, which can undoubtedly be unnerving. Not only that, but the Home button response is noticeably slower due to S Voice. It's not surprising that more and more users are wondering how to turn off Voice on Samsung. Fortunately, this is done in 4 steps:

  1. Open S Voice by double tapping "Home";
  2. Open “Menu” (upper right corner of the application);
  3. Select the “Settings” column;
  4. Uncheck "Open with Home Button".

Mobile phones today are universal devices. With their help, you can not only talk, but also take pictures, download and listen to audio recordings, and so on. Of course, such gadgets have several control methods. For example, by voice. This option allows you to activate certain functions of your mobile phone by speaking commands. Very comfortably! But today we have to understand how to control voice. Sometimes this option turns out to be unnecessary. How can I refuse to use it?

How to completely disable Google Assistant

If you just want to get rid of Google Assistant, you can also disable it completely. This will disable all the helper features that have now become a core part of Android, but if you're up for it, then let's do it.

Launch the Google app and open the menu, then select Settings.

In the Google Assistant section, select Settings.

In the "Devices" menu, click "Phone".

The first option here is Google Assistant. Just toggle the slider to turn it off.

Bixby Voice features

While you need to use Samsung apps to use Bixby at startup, there's a lot you can do with them. Here are some examples:

General commands

You can launch any app with Bixby by simply saying “Open” and the app name. Or you can say, "Open Chrome as a pop-up window" to enter this mode. You can also say, "Take a screenshot" to capture what's on your screen, or "Close recent apps" to clear out your carousel. Basically, if your S8 can do this, there's a good chance Bixby can help.

Camera

Ask Bixby to pull itself together and it will open the camera app and flip to the front camera with a countdown timer that gives you three seconds to perfect your inflation before the shutter release. You can also say things like “Take a photo with the rear camera,” “Turn off flash,” or “Turn off HDR,” and it will be mandatory. And when you're in the camera app, you can say, "Hey Bixby, take a photo," and it will capture the moment.

Calculator

You can use Bixby Voice to calculate simple equations. If you say, “What is 6 plus 3,” or “What is 12 percent of 900,” it will open the calculator, enter the equation, and show you the solution. However, if you want to multiply the answer by 3, you will need to start a new equation. He doesn't understand what to do when you say "Times 3" or "Multiply that by 3." It also doesn't get any conversions. If you ask how many pints are in a cup, you'll be taken to the conversion section of the Calculator, but when asked what you want to convert, it will say, "Turns out I can't do that." But it shouldn't be too long before this is possible.

Bixby Vision

Bixby Vision has lived on since the Galaxy S8's debut, and Bixby Voice doesn't add much to improve it. However, it makes it easier to use. You can say "Open Bixby Vision" or "Search Bixby Vision" and the Vision-enabled camera will open. Or you can say, "Translate this text" or "Show nearby restaurants," and it will launch the corresponding section of Bixby Vision. But you'll still need to interact with the screen to find things. And you need to be specific. If you ask something general like, “What is this?” Or “How much does it cost?” Bixby isn't smart enough to call Vision to find the answer.

Settings

Bixby Voice really shines when it comes to the Settings app. You can toggle and customize every setting on your Galaxy S8 using Bixby, from turning off Wi-Fi to turning on the flashlight to boost brightness. You can also say things like “Turn on low power mode,” “How much data have I used this month,” and “Change wallpaper,” and Bixby will go to the correct screen and perform the action. It will even display your IMEI number if you ask. I tried dozens of queries and couldn't find a settings command that it didn't understand. This is 100% the strongest Bixby suit.

Phone / Contacts

Bixby Voice works as you'd expect when it comes to calls. Say something like "Call mom on mobile" and it will start a phone call. For incoming calls, you can say "Accept" or "Reject", although it's just as easy to tap the screen. You can also easily add a contact or view someone's information just by asking. You can say "Block last number", which is useful for spam calls, or "Show missed calls" to see what you missed. You can also ask Bixby to block a specific number or person, open the dialer, or turn off the ringer.

Main features of the assistant

Samsung announced at the presentation of the Galaxy S8 that the new voice assistant will not be exclusive to the flagship for long. In the future, not only smartphones, but also various household appliances should receive its support. In particular, they are going to implement the smart assistant in devices running the Tizen operating system. And these are, for example, some new refrigerators from Samsung. As a result, Bixby, when you are in a supermarket, will be able to tell you exactly what products are missing in the refrigerator. Or at least show a photo of its interior. But all this is a matter of the distant future. What features does the service already have?

There is a separate button for calling Bixby. You could say that this makes the assistant more easily accessible. Although many smartphone users will say that there is nothing easier than a voice command. It seems that a separate button on the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone is dedicated only to popularize the new voice assistant as quickly as possible. In future devices, when Bixby is already well known, they will definitely get rid of the button - the assistant will be called by a familiar voice command, or by some special gesture.

Control your smartphone using your voice. In fact, Bixby can completely replace touch controls. The assistant can click on any menu item for you, open the image you need in the “Gallery” and perform other similar actions. No other voice assistant is capable of this yet. But it is still completely unclear whether this service will interact correctly with third-party applications. And it’s clear to everyone that it’s much faster to click on a menu item with your finger than to say its name out loud. But this functionality will be useful for people with disabilities - those who simply do not have hands.

Understanding natural speech language. Many voice assistants are still very limited in their vocabulary. In order for them to understand you, you need to say some special phrase. Bixby understands natural speech. At least in English. Only as a last resort does he ask the interlocutor again. This will be most noticeable after the voice assistant becomes very popular. After all, the service needs to actively study natural speech, only after that it will really learn to understand it. And this takes time.

Reminders. The voice assistant has also expanded its basic function regarding reminders about certain upcoming events. The user has the opportunity to ask the assistant to remind him of something when he is in a certain place. Again, it is assumed that the command will be delivered in normal conversational speech: “Remind me to take the documents when I find myself near Chapaev 42.”

Conclusion

S Voice Samsung is a user voice assistance system that was installed on older smartphone models. Currently, it is being replaced by an assistant with expanded functionality - Bixby. The old system will be switched off in the summer of 2021. The replacement will occur only on smart watches; other devices will remain without a Samsung branded product. Activating and disabling assistance will not cause any difficulties. The body of the program contains settings that allow you to pronounce the search phrase and start the process even when the phone is turned off.

The program actively consumes the smartphone’s battery and can cause the operating system to slow down. In addition, the branded product duplicates many of the functions of popular services, so some users prefer to deactivate the application. This is easy to do - just uncheck the box in the settings and the device will stop “coming to life” after the owner says a special phrase.

Final revision

Probably the biggest drawback is the inability to work with the voice assistant offline. At least GPRS is needed. And I’m also wildly interested in what will happen with the SGS3 update to Android 4.1, because it has a pretty good assistant in the form of Google Search. Will they be kept next to each other, or will the GS functionality be combined with S-Voice?

I will no longer compare S-Voice with similar solutions in some other devices, since these functions are exclusive and you will not be able to install any of them on another device. S-Voice was even torn out of the firmware and made publicly available, but the assistant simply does not want to work on other devices. But what you can install are similar solutions from the market, such as Iris, Assistant, Jeannie and others. Having used each assistant in my time, I can say with confidence: if you have SGS3, it’s better not to look for an alternative to S-Voice, all third-party solutions are somehow simpler. But I will put an end to this statement when S-Voice learns Russian.

To familiarize yourself with the application's functions, the Help window will be very useful. Click "Next" to move to the next window, or click "Skip" to continue using the application.
  4. 4 Turn on the option to turn on S Voice using the “Home” key.
This will allow you to access the application much faster in the future. Just click on the "Menu", "Settings", and "Run via Home Key" buttons.

Part 2 Enabling and working with the application

  1. 1 Turn on S Voice.
If an app on your screen is turned off, you can turn it on in three ways.
Quickly press the Home key twice.
  2. Say "Hello Galaxy"
  3. Press the headphone button. This is only possible with headphones that support this button.
  4. 2 Speak and give commands.
Wait for a signal (or voice prompt that asks “What do you want?”) on the Say What You Want screen and say your command clearly and directly into the device. Your device will then do what you want it to do.

S Voice can do more than just send messages. This app can record events on your calendar, maintain a to-do list, and search for friends in your contacts. Samsung Galaxy 3 won't think you have nothing to talk about if you ask it about the weather. Instead, it will present you with a weather report and even read it to you.

After months of waiting, Bixby Voice

has started arriving on smartphones around the world. In an attempt to compete with assistants like Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa and Cortana, Samsung actually did a good job with Bixby. In fact, when it comes to performing complex actions in apps, Bixby is even more convincing than its competitors. To further strengthen its position, Samsung also introduced Bixby Page, which is very similar to the Google Now page on the home screen. It's a pity that Bixby's voice recognition only works with a few languages - currently English (in its American version) and Korean. On the other hand, Google Assistant still comes pre-installed on these devices. That is, the user always has the opportunity to use only Google Assistant by disabling Bixby. Today we will show you how you can disable Bixby Voice as well as Bixby Page on Samsung Galaxy S8 or .

How to Tell if S Voice is Listening

S Voice must listen to voice signals to receive your commands. However, he doesn't always actively listen because, firstly, it would be creepy, and secondly, it would drain the battery a lot.

To determine if S Voice is actively listening to your voice input, make sure the microphone button is lit. When you first open the app, Galaxy should already be listening and the microphone button should glow blue.

However, if no voice input is detected, S Voice will go into standby mode and require you to press the microphone button or say a wake command before you can continue.

After activation , wait for the beep to ensure your command is fully heard. In certain situations, S Voice will ask you for more information again. But if your Galaxy determines that no more information is needed, it may go into sleep mode and display the message “Say your wake command to wake me.”

How to use Bixby

As mentioned above, for now the service only works on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and its larger brother. You cannot install the voice assistant on any other devices (at least as of April 2021). Roughly speaking, buyers of the new flagship are still testing this service. When the South Koreans realize that their creation works almost perfectly, they will provide the opportunity to use it to owners of some other Samsung smartphones. The assistant will arrive with the next firmware update, replacing S Voice. It will hardly be possible to download it somewhere on a third-party resource. Although the creators of all kinds of mods may well somehow implement this.

It should also be noted that the first buyers of the new flagships will not be able to play with Bixby. The fact is that the South Koreans took a little longer to finalize their service. It will become active only at the end of May or beginning of June 2021. It is also unknown whether Bixby will immediately speak Russian, or whether this will have to wait several months or even years.

However, this voice assistant has one significant drawback - it does not understand “Russian”. Thus, only those users who know the basics of English, French or German will be able to operate the program.

On the website you can download the Samsung S Voice application for Android for free.

Hi all! If you are a Samsung device user, you are probably familiar with the S Voice application. For those who don’t know what this is, I’ll explain - this is the Samsung analogue of OK Google, Siri or Cortana. You can also talk to him a little.

I (and I’m not the only one) find it not very convenient when this program (for seemingly incomprehensible reasons) suddenly starts out of the blue. In fact, there is still such a reason. This is a double click on the “Home” button. I myself very often accidentally pressed this miracle, until I decided that it was time to turn it off. For those who don’t know how to do this, I’m sharing the recipe. For example, I use a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android Lollipop. So, let's launch the application and go to its settings. Here we immediately see the menu item “Open with the Home key”. We uncheck the box next to it and get out of here.

That’s it, now the program can only be launched through applications, and the “Home” button will be used for its intended purpose.

Launch S Voice through apps

Today we will touch on the beautiful and wonderful - the voice assistant. This is the feature that many manufacturers believe will change the world and take the user experience to a whole new level. Since we haven’t reviewed S-Voice, Samsung’s proprietary assistant, yet, it’s time to review it!

S-Voice

is a voice assistant or assistant, as you prefer, which Samsung presented along with the third version of its flagship and the new version of TouchWiz Nature UX. Ever since the presentation itself, I have not ceased to be glad that leading manufacturers have begun to pay more attention not to hardware, but to software, and the subject of today’s review is proof of this. In a nutshell, S-Voice is the lady in your smartphone (only if your smartphone is a Samsung Galaxy S 3), which will at least try to answer all your questions and complete the tasks assigned to it.

Surely they are working on the technology, since my English remains clumsy, but S-Voice now does not shut me up, almost always understands the first time and this, of course, is good. Let's start from the very beginning - from the first launch. First, they will tell you that your smartphone can perform various tasks using your voice. Then there are a number of instructions; in general, we geeks skip all of this.

You can activate the assistant at any time by saying a greeting. The default is "Hi Galaxy", but you can easily change it to "Hi Borodach", "Hi Alladin" or whatever you like.

If you compare calling the voice assistant in the SGS3 and in the iPhone, then it is more logical - you need to press the mechanical Home key twice. A long press brings up a menu of running applications. On the iPhone it’s the other way around and this is not correct, since you have to use this menu more often, so it would be logical to put a single long tap on it.

As a child, S-Voice

I was not the smartest in the class, but now I have grown up and become much more intelligent and educated. Having at least some English, you can already ask S-Voice any questions on a general educational topic. Moreover, I asked absolutely any interesting questions, from presidents to converting values. If S-Voice has something to say other than two or three words, a “More” button will appear under the answer.

But we are naturally most interested in the main functionality of S-Voice as a voice assistant. You can find out the weather anywhere in the world at any time, and you can use your voice to turn on and off all sorts of phone functions, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. By the way, I couldn’t get Siri to turn on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You can post something on Twitter using your voice, set a timer or alarm, or schedule a meeting on your calendar. I was very pleased with the opportunity to build a route and turn on turn-by-turn navigation; to do this, you just need to ask to be taken somewhere. You can also enter notes and much more.

At the moment the Russian language is not supported, but it should appear. S-Voice isn't the only cool voice-related thing in SGS3. Like any other Android 4 device, there is a “stenographer” (that’s what we nicknamed her).

In any place where you need to enter text, you can press the microphone and simply pour out your soul (read - copy the house to the cat), she will understand everything and write it down on paper.

VoiceOver

In some cases, owners of Apple devices find that their VoiceOver option is enabled. It also indirectly relates to voice control. This application names the controls when you click on them, rather than executing the requested command.

To opt out of VoiceOver, you must:

  1. Open “Settings” on your mobile phone.
  2. Go to "General". Find the line “Universal Access” there and click on it.
  3. Open VoiceOver.
  4. Move the switch responsible for the operation of the application to the inactive position.

Now it’s clear how to disable voice control on an iPhone

It is important to note that to successfully cancel VoiceOver you need to press all buttons 2 times. Otherwise, the operating system will simply call certain controls
