Method No. 1 - by connecting to a PC
The simplest and most obvious way is to download music to your PC, then connect your smartphone to it via USB. When connected, a message will appear at the top indicating that the phone has started charging. Click on it and select “File Transfer”:
Next, on the desktop of your PC, open “My Computer” and see the connected device - in our case it is Xiaomi Redmi 3s.
Click on it and a window will open where the internal storage and SD card, if present, will be displayed. Just copy the audio recordings to the desired directory and you're done.
Simple ways
Via direct connection to a computer
The first, simplest one is a direct connection to a computer. All that can be useful for it is the device itself, a computer and a USB cable, which must be complete or original, otherwise the connection may not take place. Next, the “connect for data transfer” or “connect as a media device” mode is selected for the phone, after which the tracks are simply dragged to the desired folder in the phone’s memory or memory card.
Via memory card
The second method is also simple, but requires more accessories: a memory card and card reader, in addition to a smartphone and PC, if you don’t have those initially, and if you have everything, remove the memory card from the device, insert it into the desired slot of the card reader, transfer MP3 files to the storage device, and this is done using a standard Windows or MacOS explorer.
Method number 3 - using Google music

This application is most often already installed on Xiaomi by default and is located in the Google folder. If it is not there, you can download it through the Play Market or use the link above. How it works:
- Install it on your computer and log in via your Google account.
- Specify the directory from which audio recordings will be downloaded
- Next, install and launch the application on your smartphone, after which we log in under the same account as on the PC
- Synchronize data and enjoy music
Sending from a computer
The easiest way to download music to Xiaomi is to use a computer. For this:
- download in advance to your PC device the audio recordings that you want to move to the smartphone’s memory;
- connect your phone to your computer via a USB adapter;
- if options for debugging are displayed on the smartphone screen, select “File transfer”;
- Log into your phone's memory via your computer and copy the music to the desired folder;
- wait until the files are transferred, then disconnect the USB adapter.
By opening a music player or file manager on your smartphone, you can start any audio recording.
Method number 3 - cloud services
You can use cloud services such as Google or Yandex drives, OneDrivem Dropbox and the like
The algorithm of actions is simple and actually copies the previous method: download music, for example, to Google Drive, then open the corresponding application on your smartphone and download everything you need into its memory.
More complicated methods
Using cloud services
Next is the use of cloud applications, such as OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive. The difference between this option and the previous ones is the absence of a physical connection between the mobile device and the computer.
How to download your audio recordings to a Xiaomi smartphone using a specific service? To do this, special programs are installed on the PC and gadget, the files are transferred to the cloud, and then very simply downloaded at a special point. In addition, the method is practical not only for music, but also for any other information.
Method number 4 - via FTP
To transfer music via FTP, turn on Wi-Fi on your smartphone, then go to “Explorer” and find the corresponding item there:
In the window that opens, click “Run”
The result will be an address that can be opened using Total Commander. Here you can transfer any files and folders. To prevent the system from asking you to enter your login and password, go to “Settings” and set “Anonymous login”
Download tracks with FTP connection
The implementation of the option will seem unusual, but convenient.
1. In the FTP menu, click on Start Server to receive the link.
2. In the browser on your PC, paste it into the address bar.
3. Next press Enter.
4. Transfer files from the PC to the opened Xiaomi file system via a wireless network.
Download from sites
The last way is to download audio files directly from Internet resources. If you have a high-speed connection of smartphones to the Internet and the ability of the processor to work on standard web pages, you can transfer music directly to your phone. In this case, you just need to select the “download” button and after a short time the file automatically goes to the Downloads section.
If you prefer compositions on social networks or other resources that do not allow direct downloading, we recommend using special browsers with improved capabilities. Thus, you can save anything from any site. There are so many options available and they are quite practical, so it is difficult to single out a specific application.
Based on the information presented, any user will be able to independently download music to a Xiaomi smartphone using accessible methods. At the same time, everyone can choose the most practical one for themselves, since a particular option may not be suitable for various reasons.
Google music
The global firmware has all available Google services. This includes Play Market and Gmail and Google Play Music. This means that you don’t need to install anything additional. It's another matter if you have ChinaROM. You will have to go to the 4PDA forum, find your mobile gadget and start linking a third-party account to your device. Which in this case is tailored only to the Chinese information market and will offer you only music from hieroglyphs.
For Russia, now many smartphones from Xiaomi already come to the buyer with all the necessary set of tools, tailored for us. There is no need to worry here.
There is no need to download music, you already have it. That is, you install Google Play on your computer and add your tracks to the music library. In the future, they will appear on your mobile gadget, and you will be able to listen to them after synchronizing them and specifying the storage location of the audio files. They will also offer a huge free list of radio stations.
Transfer via MIDrop and MiMover
FTP as a method of data transfer has long been a thing of the past. The MIUI firmware replaced it with a new system utility called MI Drop.
The meaning is the same - wireless transfer of files of any format using Wi-Fi. In contrast to the same Bluetooth, we have a clear gain in information speed. But the design changed everything. The simplified interface of the application makes it impossible to get lost in it. When you click on the program icon, a picture appears with two huge circles - receive and send. First you need to connect to your computer. Click on the three dots at the top of the display and get into the connection settings. It is important that there is one Wi-Fi network for the phone and PC. If everything went well, all that remains is to choose what and where to send.
How to transfer files to Xiaomi via the cloud?
A cloud service is a remote computer that provides a certain amount of its own memory for the user’s needs. Imagine that you have a hard drive that is connected to the Internet, access to which does not stop 24 hours a day; this is a cloud data storage service.
There are many of them: OneDrive, Google Drive, Yandex Disk, DropBox and many others.
To work with them on a Xiaomi smartphone, you need to install the corresponding application from the Google Play store, and then register an account.
Let's say you need to transfer files, photos or videos from your computer to your phone. Install the appropriate program on your computer (or use the web interface through a browser), log into the cloud using your account, and copy the data that you need to transfer to your phone to the cloud folder. Wait for the upload to complete.
Now launch the cloud application on Xiaomi, enter the folder where you just uploaded the files, select the necessary ones and click on “Download”. After the download is complete, the data will be in the smartphone’s own memory.
How to transfer contacts to Xiaomi
We've sorted out the multimedia data, now let's touch on contacts. Contacts are stored in files with their own extension, so in order to transfer them, they must first be saved.
To do this, launch the Phone or Contacts to see the list. Click on the three dots , then select the line “Import and export” .
Next, find the “Export” and, depending on your needs, select either “Export to memory”, which will create a copy of the address book in the phone’s memory in one file called “00001.vcf”, or “Send contacts”, then this file will be automatically sent via the application you selected.
If you saved this file on your computer, then it is possible to send it to Xiaomi either via the Internet or via a wired connection. Then you need to find this file through the Explorer and click on it, a dialog box will appear prompting you to integrate contacts into one of the connected accounts: Mi or Google.
