How to install Google services on a Chinese smartphone (meizu, xiaomi, huawei, etc.)

For the owner of a “European” smartphone, no matter where it was actually assembled, it is common for Playmarket and other Google services to be installed in the Android operating system by default. This set of utilities gives you access to downloading applications and games from the official store that have been checked by Google antivirus and are safe for your phone. The question of how to install the Play Store on Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu arises after purchasing a Chinese smartphone - along with surprise at the lack of a pre-installed Play Store.

Chinese phones of new generations are quite reliable, productive, and the quality of photo and video shooting has long been on par with Samsung and Apple equipment. The absence of Google utilities supplied “in the kit” may even please you at first - they take up a lot of space in the device’s memory and are often very intrusive. But the habit of downloading programs and games from the official store remains - due to the simplicity of the actions. From the article from the Good Deeds Service you will learn how to install Google services on a Chinese phone for free - we will look at some of the simplest methods.

Method one. Official releases

There is no one general scheme for installing Google utilities on a mobile device of Chinese origin. The procedure depends on:

  • Phone firmware versions.
  • Security settings configured by the manufacturer.
  • Availability of an installer program adapted for your gadget.

Fortunately, new Chinese gadgets usually come without unnecessary protection - you can install Google Play services on Android by simply downloading the executable file in APK format and running it. We recommend starting with this method: it is extremely simple and does not require root access, switching to recovery mode, or connecting to a computer.

Before you start, be sure to go to the system settings section of your gadget. Here, in the “Security” section or with a similar name, you need to give permission to install programs downloaded from third-party (“unknown”) sources. The names of sections, subsections, and options may differ depending on the firmware and localization - but you will certainly find the item you need.

When the permit is issued, follow the instructions:

  • Go to apkpure.com. You can do this directly in your mobile browser.

  • Tap on the search icon located at the top right of the window and enter a query like Google Play in the search bar.

  • Go to the service page. Download the latest version by clicking the green button directly below the title.

  • If your smartphone does not accept the new version, try downloading and installing one of the stable old ones - their list is given at the bottom of the page.

  • Specify which directory the APK installer should be downloaded to and start downloading.

  • Agree with the system warning about a potentially unsafe file.
  • If the download does not start within a few seconds, follow the "Click Here" link.

  • After the download is complete, Google Play is installed as usual.

On the same site you can find and download other Google services - “Music”, “Books”, “Games”, “Maps” and so on.

Allow installation

By default, Android does not allow downloading programs from third-party sources. Only official services are available. Before you connect the Play Market, you need to remove this restriction. Do the following:

  1. Open device settings.
  2. Scroll down and go to the Security menu under Personal Information. In the "Security" menu, find the "Unknown sources" item
  3. Find the item “Unknown sources” there.
  4. In older versions of Android you need to check the box, in new ones you need to move the checkbox to the “ON” position (it will turn green).

Now you can run the APK installation files that are located in the device memory.

Method two. Google Installer

The first method proposed in the article involves downloading Google services one by one: you will have to manually find, download and run the installation of each APK. Programs designed for mass installation of Google products on phones made in China allow you to speed up the process.

Thus, the Google Installer applet has been developed for Xiaomi smartphones. The application can also work on smartphones from other Chinese manufacturing companies, but is optimized specifically for the specified brand. You can download it from the link (registration on the site is required).

After the applet is loaded into the memory of your gadget:

  • Run the APK installation (permission to install from unknown sources should already be granted).
  • Open the program, read the terms of use and click on the big round “Install” button.
  • If any Google services are already installed, give permission to replace them with new versions.
  • Wait while the program downloads and installs the latest releases of Google applications. During this time, the phone can be left unattended - the process is completely automatic.

A big plus of the product is the ability to choose which Google services should be downloaded and installed. For the program to work, a stable Internet connection is required - installation data is not contained in the installation APK and will be downloaded separately, upon request.

The product is not compatible with some phone models. If you see an installation error notification, proceed to the next method.

How to create a Huawei account

In order for the user to download applications from AppGallery, he will need to create a Huawei account. On the screen of your 9A or 9S smartphone, select the icon with the name of the application. A form will appear where you need to write down your phone number or email address.

During registration, the user will also need to indicate their date of birth. If a phone number was used in the account creation form on Honor's phone, an SMS with a confirmation code will be sent to it. It will need to be entered into the form. If you used an email account, a letter with a code will be sent to it.

Method three. Google Apps Installer

A universal utility originally developed for MeiZu gadgets. Like the previous product, it searches and downloads the latest version of Google services automatically. Available in the manufacturer's official application store.

Instructions for using the program:

  • Download and install the APK. You can do this from the official Meizu store or, if you use a smartphone of another brand, from the website apkpure.com.

  • After installation is complete, launch the applet.

  • The program will automatically detect which Google products are already installed on your smartphone and offer to remove them to install the latest versions.

  • After removal, you can install Play Market and other Google utilities on your gadget. The process is carried out automatically.

To download services, the application requires stable Internet access. Do not disconnect until all the products you have selected have been downloaded and installed.

Why is the play market not installed on honor phones?

The Play Market application store is a development of Google.
The Android operating system is also a Google program, so most devices had this store on board by default. It could previously be found on smartphones from Samsung, Honor, Xiaomi, Huawei, Pixel and others. But recently, the creators of mobile devices are trying to separate themselves from the usual service and offer their own in return. For example, Samsung mobile phones already have a Galaxy Store. In terms of operation and functions, it is practically no different from the Play Market.

Method four. Recovery mode plus root access

The above options for installing Google services are simple and do not require obtaining root access or going into recovery mode. But their use may fail if the security settings set by the manufacturer do not allow the installation of Google products. In this case, you can install the necessary utilities by going into recovery mode. To do this, we recommend that you first download and install the TWRP assembly. It would be optimal to immediately get root rights - in this case, the installation will be completely automatic. The last condition is not necessary: below we will show how to install Google utilities without access to the root folder.

Instructions on how to download Play Market on Huawei and other phones after receiving root rights:

  • Download the Open GApps app and once you run it, grant root privileges when prompted. Without these permissions, automatic installation will not be possible.
  • By clicking on the “Next” arrow, indicate the architecture of the processor installed in your phone. It should be determined automatically; If not, look in the instructions for your smartphone.
  • On the next page, enter your current operating system version. It, like the architecture, is usually determined automatically.
  • Select which set of Google utilities should be downloaded and installed on the gadget. The configuration increases from bottom to top, from a single Play Market (Pico option) to a full set with Android Pay and the ability to select components (Aroma option). We recommend choosing the Full option, which includes all standard services.
  • Start the download. Wait while the application downloads all selected components. The loading scale located at the bottom of the window will help you see how much is left.

When the download is complete, click on “Install”. The downloaded elements will be installed by the application automatically.

Method five. Recovery mode without root access

Instructions on how to download Play Market and install it along with other Google services if you cannot install root rights:

  • Launch the previously installed TWRP package. To do this, you need to press the power button, select reboot into recovery mode, and wait for the advanced options menu to appear. The Open GApps package should already be downloaded to the gadget's memory.
  • Click on the Install button.
  • Specify the directory in which the downloaded GApps ZIP installer is stored and install it.
  • When the installation is complete, reboot to production mode. This can be done by clicking on the Reboot button located in the same window.

When the phone turns on normally, launch GApps, download and install Google products as shown in the previous section.

During the installation of Google services using the described method, errors with the following codes may occur:

  • 10 and (or) 30. Indicate that the firmware is outdated - update TWRP by downloading the executable file from a reliable source.
  • 20. Indicates that the downloaded packages are incompatible with your version of the Android OS. Most likely, you incorrectly specified the generation of the operating system when you first launched GApps.
  • 64. Indicates that the installed packages are incompatible with the processor architecture. The error is probably related to the incorrect choice of architecture in the GApps start window.
  • 70. Indicates that there is not enough internal memory to install Play Market on Honor or another Chinese smartphone. Reboot in normal mode and clear the memory before attempting the installation again. Another option is to choose the minimal Pico package.

If none of the proposed methods brings a positive result, try looking for unofficial firmware for your gadget, which already includes Google services. You will have to install it from your computer by connecting your phone with a USB cable and downloading a special application for flashing it.
